It's simply personality. Normally, "aggressive" players, or people with dominant personalities, gravitate towards the damage dealing/directly engaging classes, leaving the healers for the more passive players.
If it wasn't for that, well, a good healer makes or breaks a raid. DDs are dime a dozen. You'd have DDsluts.

I played all 3 roles when I played WoW and invariably one of the pug party members I was with would be a complete waste of space.
I liked healing mostly just because if the group was competent I could just follow doing very little and shield things occasionally or dps myself.
If you were every my tank or healer, I would never yell at you. I would only put my hand on your cheek and try to comfort you. I would say, "Let's do better next time, okay?" Then maybe we could go do something fun together, like farm for some quirky item or help some newbs.
And that's why I had to quit MMOs. There's just no room for me in today's culture.
