I use the usb GC controller adapter, the Wii U is the definitive way of GC games. You can force widescreen, it upscales, you can add deflicker, and the pro controller works better for certain games like need for speed.

2 words. Gameboy Player. With a hacked GC, you can get one for next to nothing, and it's hands down the ULTIMATE way to play GBA games, and the best way to play the vast majority of GB games.
