To be specific my G400 is doing just fine, it's a normie with a shitty gamer mouse who has to replace theirs

logitech put the G400 out of production and I can only see them pumping out gamer mice now

what gives?
>>
My G400 "died" a year ago; cable was fucked and kept disconnecting.

I found a fix though, which involved taking it apart and shoving the cable further inside. A year later it is yet to disconnect.
>>
Consider checking >>/g/ for a mouse thread.

g303 works great, feels good for a finger grip

>mfw I literally have the exact same mouse as you and it's dying at the moment

It just disconnects sometimes right and you have to pull it out and plug it back in? I only bought my g400 in 2013 I thought it would last longer than this.

Though I am worried maybe it's my motherboard because when it disconnects steam shit itself which makes me think my hard drive with steam installed it also disconnecting for a split second.

Mine is from Jan 2013 and still doing fine. There's some variance I suppose. Had an MX518 that started acting up which worked fine after opening and cleaning it up. Maybe try that? Careful though.

Went from op mouse to g400s to this mouse and it is the best mouse I've ever used. like zowie there are no drivers to install but the ergonomics are so much better.
>>
How did it die OP? You can replace the cable, the part's widely available

G400 represent. If it died on me I'd just buy another used one, or maybe a g5/g9/g400s
>>
>>319895380
Wireless mouses require batteries or recharging, can have latency issues, normally have low quality sensors, angle snapping and acceleration. Because they require batteries, changeable or inbuilt tend to be heavier, and if the battery dies and you have no batteries on you, you go without a mouse. Either that, or you have to charge it, and it defeats the purpose of being wireless. Wireless anything that you have to depend on is just not a good idea.

If you don't need anything special, Windows Intellimouses are really good for their price. They have great sensors and just werk.

g700.

The main reason why mouses die is the cable that connects to the mouse. G700 is based on the mx518 and has a detachable cable (which is also reinforced) Which means that in the worst case scenario you'll just have to change the cable or play with the battery.

I've been using it pretty much all day everyday since 2011 and it's working perfectly fine.
>>
If you liked it just get a G400s.

>>319896386

You want to buy a new mouse? Here's the ones to choose between:

Razer - has been shit since ca 2006 right after they released the copperhead, starting with retarded firmware adding 12ms delay before mouse sending registered clicks to PC and then overpriced keyboards that didn't feature anti ghosting. Their current products include a "revived" diamondback that doesn't even have the same dimensions as the original one with the iconic rubber strip (great for gripping) removed and the chroma keyboard with razers own designed (shitty OEM ones made by kalih, a cheap chinese knockoff) mechanical switches.

Logitech - currently has an exclusivity contract on the best mouse sensors on the consumer market, however mouse designers tried to make "unique" mouse that'd stand out in the market resulting in horrible abortions well known for looking more like UFOs than mice. Any semblence of ergonomy was thrown out of the window with it as well. I'm talking especially about the G302/303 models here. Also known to aggravate certain types of CTS/RSI, a certain progamers has gotten rekt by it as their contract won't allow them to use other mice during play.

Zowie - run by some greedy chinks going by the "selling less for more" philosophy. Sells simple mice for overly high prices now that they've established brand name like the others. Still uses stiff huano switches and refuses to do any adjustment to mouse shell dimensions despite repeated complaints from customers.
>>
>>319894119

just get a G400s.

>>319895512

is there some reason all zowie mice are expensive? I get the impression they are the same shit as razer just not as obnoxious looking.

honestly I wish someone would make one of those crazy MMO mice with an actually half decent sensor in it. The gorillion buttons are actually useful as hell for a lot of games, but the sensors and build quality of MMO mice are universally shit.

Steelseries -
Steelseries -
>The SteelSeries Rival was built with hardware level skipping which is preferred by some of the top gamers in the world. Although mouse skipping has been coined as a villain in some gaming circles, it is slowly but surely becoming a valued feature for certain top gamers whom can utilize its benefits to the fullest. The major gripe with mouse skipping is inconsistency. This inconsistency is due to software-based skipping tools such as Windows mouse skipper which is built for basic tasks such as web browsing, not precision gaming.

Mad Catz RAT - Their latest entries failed basic things like not fucking up the mouse sensor placement. How hard is it to understand the concept of that any rotational movements will fuck up without proper sensor placement?

QPAD - Their flagship mouse, the DX-20 features a PMW3320 sensor and costs $70. Its like spray painting something gold and expecting people to pay for its worth in actual gold.

Thermaltake - They haven't managed to make a single fucking decent product when it comes to gaming mice.

Roccat - Another PMW3320 product selling for $70. But these guys have been known for overpricing their things since years ago.

Mionix - This is actually my favored brand, as I don't have any negative shit to say about them. Good luck getting them outside of Europe however.

I know you said you don't want a gaymer mouse, but this thing is actually very useful for certain reasons:

-it has a third mouse button, which I usually set to wheel click so I can open and close tabs easier

-the 12 buttons are actually pretty easy to reach with your thumb once you get used to the layout

-each of these 12 buttons can actually be bound to multiple keystrokes, like ctrl-c, ctrl-v, etc. This can potentially make someone's life a lot easier if they use a program with lots of keystrokes available, like autocad or photoshop.

-you can also make multiple profiles, so that you can hop back and forth between them depending on what you're doing.

something similar like that happened to me, but I got a replacement and never ended up using it much after i received it

they sent me a new one without asking any questions, so i just use my g600 now and leave the 602 in my drawer. i leave it there in case i ever need a wireless for a weird situation since i'm afraid it will break again, logitech doesnt have the best quality control like most companies nowadays.

Mionix Castor is probably the most subtle gaming mouse out there. Its a mouse you can bring to work without feeling ashamed.

Its light weight, has the best sensor on the market, a built in memory that stores the configs you put in from the program (color options, dpi, etc. If you want you can turn off the lighting alltogether). The shape of the mouse feels great too.

Pair it up with a Steelseries Mass mousepad and you're good to go.

this is mine, works great, dependable as fuck.

Possible Pros:
>Button placement, side buttons won't get in the way
>Feels great, good weight to it despite its small size
>Scroll wheel is really quiet, near silent
>For its price, it's not a cheap piece of shit
>I got it for $13 on ebay

Possible Cons:
>LED light is always one, and is kind of bright in pitch black (medium bright, too much for me)
>Side 'rubber' grip feels great, but in the middle it starts to CHIP off, not PEEL. Weird shit.
>You will probably never need the side buttons, but I think you can map them
>No DPI indicator, just a toggle button for 3 settings (you can tell what setting it's on by feeling it out but still)
>It's not a palm grip, so if you have big hands you're fucked (I love this size of mouse personally and hate palm grip like the op pic.)

Overall I love it to death and think it's the best mouse for the price by far. I have had a shitload of cheap ones and mid-tier $50+ ones fuck up on me, and this one is the most satisfying by far.
