They still do, and there's more of them than ever. It's just that youtube recommendation/"related videos" algorithms are more heavily biased towards big channels with many views/subscribers than ever.
I really wish they bring back the "video responses" feature. That shit allowed for some amazing sub-community interactions. Fads came and went even couple of months, and you could easily track them all and subscribe to all the people who make these kinds of videos.
