Is Doom 3 worth playing? I have it on steam but never got around to it. What about the earlier dooms? Is it just nostalgia or do they really do something newer shooters don't?

They're simple fun, and they offer the kind of level design you won't see much (or at all) in a modern FPS.

I've always wondered, to people think of Doom as a Horror or Action game? I loved both the classic and modern Doom for very different reasons.

It was advertised as an action horror, like Aliens, but nowadays it is not as frightening as it was back then, the atmosphere and use of light is still pretty stellar though.
