He couldn't just shoot everyone up and run away every time they came for him. He was sparing his family that and he was part of the old west and had to go
>>
I didn't hit anybody, but I did kill a crow in the sky before they shot me.

Never got to pluck it.

He had to die to protect his family from the ever expanding federal government.

It was so satisfying killing Edgar Ross later on

meme appeal mostly.
>>
>>319862429

This, how can people not understand this.
Later his son took his role as an outlaw cowboy and will probably end up like John did

Btw, the game is mediocre.
>>
>>319861173

Because some retard at Rockstar thinks a tragic ending is inherently better writing.

The notion that the government decided to call out the army to murder one former outlaw and his family just because they couldn't stand the idea of a remnant of the past dying of old age is ludicrous but they had decided their "ending with a message" already and that was the best they could come up with to justify it.

I can't believe people praise those hacks for their writing.
>>
>>319861173
To get a cheap sad ending out of the game for babbies first sad ending
>>
>>319863258

>Because some retard at Rockstar thinks a tragic ending is inherently better writing

The same writers made Max Payne walk off into the sunset... It was actually worse that way.
>>
>>319863551
I used to think that Max Payne 2's lackluster ending was disappointing, but who would have thought that it would be a million times fucking better than Max Payne 3's ending.
>>
>>319863258
>>319863350
I'll take the bait. Of course they would call out the army, we're talking about a man who destroys entire camps of armed men when he just happens to be in the neighborhood. It also isn't a matter of letting him die of old age. They were never gonna let him live to begin with, but they used him to get rid of the rest of the outlaws.
>>
>>319863551

And Max Payne is supposed to be noir, a sad ending would have actually been appropriate there.

But no, those hacks were too busy turning Max Payne into John McClane and stealing from Tony Scott.
>>
>>319863258
Edgar wanted to get rid of the entire gang. He was never going to just let John get away with everything he'd done and just saw him as another outlaw.

And deploying the army/agents doesn't seem to ridiculous after you think about how John blazed through the US and Mexico going through war zones and gang strongholds taking people out without too much trouble

SPOILER

Fuck you im still waiting for the port
>>
They don't have to make another Red Dead game
>>
>>319864734

It's never going to happen because the files got lost in a flood. If they would make a port they would have to rebuild the whole game.
>>
>>319864861

Yeah no. Nobody works on anything on this scale and doesn't make secure remote backups.
>>
>>319864850
I wouldn't mind it. The missions could get a little tedious sometimes but everything else was fantastic. Still think it looks great for a 360/PS3 game too. We don't have nearly enough Western games either
>>
>>319864861
>made billions of dollars

ya bish ?
>>
>>319861173
Well you see, the reason is that WORK, YA DAMN NAG
>>
>>319864861
That's not why its because they coded the game in a super retarded way that makes porting it to PC impossible without rewriting a bunch of code.
>>
>>319861173
To show that doing good doesn't overwrite having been bad, I suppose. Odd in a game with redemption in the title, but I'd guess that's the point
>>
>>319861173
You can't run from the past, John

Dutch straight up tells John before he dies

>"When I'm gone they'll just find another monster. They have to justify their wages."
>>
>>319865063
>its because they coded the game in a super retarded way that makes porting it to PC impossible without rewriting a bunch of code
>Roberts added that despite the game being developed in a win32 PC environment, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions were always the ones the studio intended to release.

The port already exists, it just needs optimizing.

Rockstar San Diego for some reason has not wanted their games on PC for a while now. Most of the games developed by other studios all get PC ports.
>>
>>319865671
I have a ps3 and I wouldn't mind a port so I can replay the game on hardware that can actually run it but at this point its too late for it to be feasible

Guess I'll just pick up a cheap 360 because apparently it runs better on that
>>
Reminder that you're an utter pleb if you found John's death more emotional than Dutch's.

>>319861258
and the birth of Mafias/Gangsters and the Roaring Twenties, starting with the Great Depression and Prohibition Era, which leads to L.A. Noire
>>
>>319862429
He seriously could have just aimed for the man responsible for it all. That's what his son ended up doing anyway.
>picked out his stupid head in the crowd of men
>aimed as many crosshairs as I could on his dome
>fired all shots
>nothing changed
As much as I love the fact everyone else can die during that part if you aim for them, you can't kill the agent.

post-game content

The game would have been totally forgettable otherwise
>>
>>319861173
Forced drama

Without it the game would've failed miserably so that got desperate towards the ending. Also budget issues for taking the chance of making a wild wild west based game
>>
>to mark the end of an era
>to show that sometimes you can't run from your past.
>the government will fuck you over even if you obey them

take your pick.

Yeah, You two bitter queers are right. It's not that it has anything to do with the fact that the entire theme of the game is the end of an era.
