I never try to get good at them. I buy them for the cute girls. That's it. Turn the difficulty down as much as possible, and play story/arcade with the lovely ladies.

You can't "git gud". You either have the talent or you don't. People who "git gud" through endless practice are just scrubs who remembered what buttons to press at certain times. It's an illusion of skill building.

Smash might not be a fighting game but I like just how easy it is to find tourneys, smashfests, and sparring partners.
The community is very friendly too and haven't seen much autism at all, /v/ lied to me once again.
It's funny how I had an easier time finding people to play fighting games through smash, than through events themselves. Why the FGC so elusive in that fashion? Barely any weekly events and such.

Gave up on MKX.
>First time trying seriously, learned some combos but not much else.

It was fun early but so fast paced and punishing it was hard for me to even learn something from losses. Started playing SFIV and enjoyed it despite also being unable to win online. For some reason it felt more fun and winning mattered less. Waiting for SFV. I think I'll always be ass at fighting games but if the roster and gameplay is fun enough I can enjoy it regardless.
