Jetpacks. I want to fly around like Iron Man, not just slowly hover for 10 seconds at a time.

Underwater sections tend to be bad because they're just very slow.
If you speed them up, like Enguarde from Donkey Kong Country or Zora Link in Majora's Mask, they can be totally fine.

Up until recently I would have said forests, but some devs seem to have got their shit together. ARK gets a special mention for this because their forests are claustrophobic and brilliant.

I'm tired of getting hyped as fuck when these missions happen only to be saved by some asshole, halo reach had the best survive missions I can remember in recent years

>Bought their game new from the website way back when for 360
>They sent me a thank you email
>Respond for the fuck of it
>"I've never heard of devs sending out personalized thank yous to people who buy their games. What gives?"
>He tells me about how they haven't had a new sale in over 5 months and how Capcom has threatened to liquefy and rearrange their entire studio to make up for lost investment in the game and that they were literally giving away excess copies of the game before their studio closed down in the next few months
>Play the game to see how it is once it arrives
>Very obviously a labor of love on their end
>Horribly rushed and unfinished but so ambitious and fun at its core
>Email him back thanking him for all the effort and that I applaud all the effort that went into making the game with whatever presumably rushed deadlines and cutthroat budget they had to work with

It could have been so great.

Fire. Water looks great but fire always looks like shit.

Red dead redemption got it pretty right

I like the ladders in the Stalker games. The Half Life games do it the worse I think.
>>

That survive mission in reach. So intense. Fucking loved it
>>
>>319856537
I'm reading the steam reviews right now and Capcom managed to fuck it up even further. Steam keys don't work with their third party DRM, which makes it unplayable.
RIP

rushed deadlines and cutthroat budget
I'm working in the games industry and those two are some of the reasons why I'm getting the hell out. Not to mention that if a game turns a profit, you'll still all be fired by the time the project ends and have to travel to yet another fucking career fair to find a new employer. Only the suits profit from this shitty industry.
>>
>>319857537
What games have you worked on?
>>
>>319857659
One project for EA, two for Activision and several mobile/F2P games at smaller companies.
>>
>>319857537
lol, your loss for getting in the first place.
>>
>>319856670
Thats because devs can closely examine water and remain safe. You really want devs to risk their lives by getting too close to flames? Youre just gonna have to deal with it

Been looking for the "next online survival" since I never got to play DayZ when it was at its peak, and just a somewhat stable mod for ArmA2

>>
>>319858502

Valve have always sucked at ladders, most of the time you either couldn't get off them or jumped to your death while mashing space to try and unhinge yourself from them.
>>
>>319859012
Minecraft vanilla I would rather die before playing but I can play the modded version for fucking years which is why console minecraft confuses the fuck out of me.
>>
>>319859147
It was great back in alpha, back when we still had the promise of lanterns and roaming dragons.
1.2 Beta ruined it, because beds broke the game, biomes absolutely demolished the aesthetics of the environments, and floating clusters of dirt and rocks were removed from the level generator.

>>319858578

level progression in RPGs. You either get way too much exp for arbitrary quests or are left to grind enemies. The closest to smart progression has been the elder scrolls series where repeated use of a certain skill will increase your knowledge of it and allow you to gain perks for it. Literally every other level based RPG is fucking reatrded with it.
>>
>>319859441
>>319859016
oh i get it now, yea.
>>
>>319859565
Leveling is stupid I think. And getting exp from enemies so you can grind. Exp should be given for completing quests with different amounts sometimes given for doing it different from the main way of finishing the quests and then that can be used to upgrade your stats. Think Bloodlines.
