Swan songs refers to the last game a developer made before closing, especially a good/decent/underrated game.
Obsidian is still a developer and has produced multiple games since AP.

I consider Cossacks/American Conquest swansongs for the isometric rts. Rather than jumping on the early 3d bandwagon GSC made rts games with sprites after the year 2000. The isometric sprites for units gave the games absolutely fucking massive population counts and the unit management is still probably my favourite from any rts.
It's a shame that isometric rts is 100% dead but Cossacks is getting a sequel soon so it's not all bad.
Double Helix put out both this and Killer Instinct back to back and then got sucked up by Amazon immediately after and were never heard from again.

I played that when it was free on PS+ and was very pleasantly surprised by it. I was expecting shovelware bullshit but it felt like they really put their hearts into it. I'm not a big sidescroller fan but it played amazingly smoothly and the boss fights on Hard were awesome.
I didn't know that the developers went under, that's a shame. I was hoping for more Strider in the future.
