No, online play and online leaderboards were on Saturn, and Dreamcast had basically proto-xbl in it. OG Xbox was mostly Sega R&D, outsourced to MS. And Sony is the worst kind of cancer to happen to videogames, as they consider it company philosophy to infuse games with "cinematic and story driven" shit. COMPANY. PHILOSOPHY. Sega was always gaming and arcade centric, championing gaming as its own thing, Nintendo makes toys, and MS doesn't have set philosophy at all.

Dreamcast did sell, pretty well for how long it was in production. Its just that a good amount of dreamcast owners pirated games, and didn't purchase them. Couple that with the fact Sega didn't release many first party games, let alone good ones for it, and that spells disaster.
So basically piracy, lack of quality 1st party releases, and too many costly console add one, bankrupted Sega.
Sega of america most certainly didn't help keep sega alive either. They actually deserve a portion of blame as well.
With the death of sega and neo Geo, games have just been more and more shit.
Glad I still have my genesis/Saturn/dreamcast/neo Geo x to keep me happy
