That being said, I enjoy turn based games as well. Especially if I'm managing a group of people, who normally would be able to act independently.

turn based combat in RPGs is mind numbingly boring because the stakes are so low.
it's good in rts/4x type because you actually have things to think about that might actually require , but in an rpg you only have a handful of enemies to think about, you basically have to be brain dead to struggle or find any enjoyment in turn based rpg games, especially jrpgs.
