Is it so fucking hard to put optional tutorials in modern games? Why can't developers do it?
Super Mario 64 had signposts all over the place telling you how the game worked but they were optional.
Why must we slog through a long forced tutorial?

because handholding and asuming the player is stupid is part of standard game mechanics now....people have become so entitled and spoilt that if they cant figure out how to play a game, then its not that they're stupid its the games fault for being bad.

The playtesters didn't find the button in a timely fashion so it was removed to streamline the game and make it more accessible general audiences.

Also in the latest Mario & Luigi game that just came out in Europe, most of the tutorials are now relegated to optional textbooks and there's a fastforward button now, so they are learning.

It was hilarious. They blatantly skip the tutorials thinking they're not important and have trouble figuring out what to do later.
