Why I dislike Undertale:
I don't necessarily hate it so much as I was disappointed immensely by it. The game actually was pretty good, but it had the potential to be amazing, and that's where my rage comes from.
A lot of the music in the game is remixes, like A LOT. I'd say about 50-60% of the music in the game is easily recognizable as a slightly off kilter version of a previous ost in the game. This makes little sense when the characters and areas are so varied.
The combat system is awful, boiling down to essentially QTE's on your turn. I understand the point of the game is to save the monsters, but for those who wish to finish Genocide or Neutral properly it's a right pain.
The game has no difficulty. There are 3 bosses literally impossible to die to, and only one makes any sense in context.
The characters are flat, with maybe one or two actually fleshed out, even if the full extent of that characterization is an extra paper thin.
The reason the characters are so flat is because you can beat the game 100% in UNDER 6 hours. I believe I completed Neutral in about 4 with some mild backtracking.
The weapons and armor are pointless because bosses do % health damage. in Pacifist/Neutral, so long as you're at 20 HP regardless of whether you are wearing the Mandanna, the Glasses, or the TuTu, she will deal 3-4 damage per hit. Similarly she deals around 9 per hit in Genocide regardless of armor. Weapons seem to have some actual effect, but why even bother with armor?
The story is non existent until the end of each run, where the plot of the game is revealed all at once. There is some minor story things in the game up to that point, but nothing noteworthy.
The game had a chance to have its own unique quirky humor, like the Earthbound/Mother 2 game it was attempting to emulate, however it instead fell back on internet memes with a few puns thrown in, and very few original jokes to its name.

Some of the stuff relevant to the story is completely ignored. The other 6 humans for example. Even if they lived and died in different eras, they would have had some impact on the Under. Yet no one has anything to say about them, nothing is left of them but weapons and clothing, and despite the scattered locations of their items, all of their souls ended up at Asgore somehow. Genocide run is cheese as fuck, with the three bosses being OHKO's. This makes sense in the context of in game lore, but he could easily have added extra boss fights that tied into the story. Mettaton dies? Blooky is there to fuck your shit up because Mettaton told him the truth so he'd leave, but instead he stayed behind and they become some sort of ghost demon. Muffet goes down? HEr pet goes wild and the tiny spiders swarm into a conglomerate monster with muffets pet as the head. Etc.
The game has exactly 3 major endings, with Neutral having minor variances that ultimately don't really matter. And since you can get the Pacifist ending after doing a neutral run where you don't kill anyone without having to reset and start from the beginning, the game has exactly 30 hours of content. This is adjusting for the extra time Genocide takes due to the encounter rates dropping and the extra Pacifist playthrough after a Genocide Run you need to get the Soulless ending. This is also assuming you are of decent skill level and not a crippling retard who can't get past Undying Undyne in Genocide.
All in all there was so much more this game could have done, and it didn't.

My excuse is that I got the game right when it came out, so I didn't know big the game was in terms of content or how many endings it had. I ended up replaying it a lot because of it.
