Agatsuma Entertainment, the makers of Umihara Kawase games, were dissolved today. If you ever wanted to officially buy any of the games, better do it quick.

All 3 can be had from Steam for $30.

I bought it on vita at release. It's kinda sad but after seeing their steam sales numbers it's understandable. The game probably sold poorly across all platforms it was on.

they just published it
>>
>>319748157
Nah... Steam will just leave the games up so people can buy em and keep all the profit since there's no company to send the profits to unless some other company buys the rights to the Umihara games.

I've seen a few people say Shun (the 2nd game) is the best. Any opinions guys?

>>319749167
Steam has all 3 games.

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/85452/
>>
>>319749167
Aye. The first one is actually bundled with Sayonara.
You can select either one in the game's main menu.

>>319749226
I've seen others say that Shun improves upon the first Umihara.
They all have different rope physics, so I guess it's down to preference.
>>
>>319749421
So PC has all the games?
Does vita have them all too?
>>
>>319749520
>So PC has all the games?
Yes, all three.
>Does vita have them all too?
Just the first and last (Shun is missing for some reason)
>>
Fucking sucks, but the series has barely hung on for a good decade.

It was inevitable but it still hurts.
>>
>release game on PC
>get dissolved

Thanks PC faggots. You were their last hope, but you all probably just pirated all their games.
>>
>>319749520
There was a PSP port of the 2nd game, I'm not sure if it is Vita compatible. It had a ton of bugs that ruined the physics though.

The 2nd game was ported much better to DS, but not released in English. I believe the DS version is the basis for the PC version.

That's a shame. Seems like a silly fun game series. Maybe I'll pick up the 3DS version.

Doesn't look very good at all. There's probably a reason why the company is dissolving.
>>
>>319750131
Umihara is the Dark Souls of the platforming genre
>>
>>319748427
Are you stupid? Someone still holds the rights to that IP, and they get a cut according to the agreement they have with steam.
>>
>>319750187

Agatsuma Entertainment parent company (a toy maker) website: http://www.agatsuma.co.jp/

The press release shows that last November 30, the company's board of directors decided to dissolve the subsidiary Agatsuma Entertainment( founded in 1997) today and liquidate it by March 31 because muh sustainable growth and streamlining profitability.

>>
>>319750286
The games are a freaking platforming classic.

Too bad these are basically the only games they are known for.
>>
>>319750286
They are physics based puzzle platformers. Pretty unique.

>>319750410
Hopefully that means the games will stay up until March 31st.

>>319750623
The sushi chef thing is made up by whoever posted the game on Steam, and I don't know where you're getting "battle" from. She's literally an underage elementary school kid in most of the games.

Did this game ever get a 3DS release outwith na?
>>
>>319751057
The game's not going to disappear you idiot
>>
>>319751331
So Agatsuma Entertainment is kill, publishing of its games that are never before released in Japan are now up to third parties.
>>
>>319751057
I doubt they'd upload it all to Steam, and then just shut down and have it removed. The games are still up, and will most likely remain that way for at least the rest of the year (so including the Christmas sale). My guess is, even after they've sold off the IP rights, they'll still be left up. It's free money for the new owner, after all.
>>
>>319751612
Then who provides support?
>>
>>319751789
Whoever holds the rights will be responsible, but that's not saying they'll actively be supporting the games. There are plenty of games on Steam with no support.

Saizensen is a studio owned by the artist, that he founded after the first Umihara game. Programmer currently works in Agatsuma.
>>
>>319752076
So what does that mean for the future of the series
>>
>>319752159
Every thing will be sold off in March.
>>
>>319752159
Who knows? According to interviews they weren't sure themselves after the release of Sayonara.
>>
>>319752251
So the devs will be sold to someone else and could possibly still make new games?
That would be nice.
>>
>>319752301
No, the company is dissolved. What is being sold is likely equipment and intellectual property (the series itself).
>>
>>319752414
So is that dissolution means cessation of operations?
>>
>>319752665
Yes. The gaming division of this toy company is dead.

I like the idea in these platformers, but let's be honest:
>The level design is a bit random and quite strange.
>Several times on Sayonara I had the impression that the game was asking easy things on late levels even though the path you were supposed to take on the level just before was quite hard.
>The bosses are bad and cryptic.

I like the principle, but the games are heavy flawed from a game design point of view. She's cute though
>>
Damn. I played through the PS1 game with a buddy and it was really fucking fun. I'll have to check these out. Sad to hear this though.
>>
>>319753531
It was basically a roguelike before such a term or gameplay style became standardized. I get that boss fighting is cryptic and super hard. But I think it's a part of the charm and the mystery of the game.

Natsume is still fine and good, not that we need another UK, they are all the same game.

Helping out on the PC port is possible assuming that Agatsuma Entertainment finds a new buyer in time.
