In memory of the previous commander's apparent capitulation in the face of superior alien forces, there shall be an XCOM thread.
I'm going to be trying an OpenXCOM mod called X-Piratez, which pits us as a gang of idiot criminals and mutants in the year 2601 who have stumbled upon the ruins of an XCOM base. The original XCOM project was defeated long ago and earth has been relegated to a backwater shit-hole in the ethereal's space empire.
We have garbage technology, very little cash, and are up against several powerful human factions who have the support of the ethereals.
Also our gang is apparently composed entirely of beefy amazon women in revealing outfits.
That said, where did we find that XCOM base?
In Joburg, South Africa.
It seems that in the future, South Africa is now known as the Rogue Fields, but we'll take it.
Our craft is currently named The Bonaventura, and it seems pretty beefy, acting as both an interceptor and troop carrier.
We have a decidedly archaic selection of weapons to choose from, including some pirate themed muskets and even a portable cannon. Stat wise, the amazon women seem to be physically superior to the XCOM rookie, with much higher strength and health, and with 20 base armor in spite of being mostly naked.
We've got 12 hands on deck, with an interesting default naming scheme. If anyone has better names than the likes of Pantsless Cougar and Howlin' Shiva, let them be heard.
First contact
Our beefcake pirate ship smokes the tiny scout ship no prob. On landing, we see that it's one of those pissant little one man space pods. We've got an ominous ruins terrain going on though. Also, our ship has an awesome top hatch so we can get a good vantage point.
Nobody home in the ship. Some asshole if firing a shotgun at us from the west though.
This guy looks like he's wearing XCOM personal armor, which is gonna be tough to beat with our shit guns. A black powder bomb bounces off of him
He doesn't withstand the second bomb so easily though
