>1: We're getting too old and losing interest in games

How do we fix this?
>>
Literally no advancements outside of specs

The only thing i've gone 'huh could not do that on the last gen' is 8 player Smash

You couldn't do open world without loading screens on last gen consoles.

You now can on modern gen consoles as seen in Witcher 3.
>>
Ditch all the online connectivity bullshit, nobody needs fucking online leaderboards that require a connection to the internet 24/7 and has to reconnect every time you go to the map screen, stop acting like everyone around the world has fiber internet that never fails cause it always fucks everything up.
>>
>>319655529
Man, they just keep improving this accurate picture.
>>
>>319655776
Just Case 2?

Hell half the point of Jak 1 was no loading screens.

But when I reflect on everything, I realize.

This console gen is perfect.
>>
Middle ground between indie and AAA is apparently no longer financially viable. Incidentally, that was the area where most of the all time masterpieces came from.
>>
>>319655776
I'm willing to admit I never played an open-world game on consoles, but I'm pretty sure the Saints Row game only had loading screens when loading a mission

i dont think thats it. we just have so much more access to games that we're desensitized to enjoying them. look at everyones steam library of games they bought just because they were on sale and are never going to play.

Just Cause 2 had an empty open world though and had to go through a ton of hoops to make it work (trees becoming 2D after a short distance, cities barely had any pedestrians inside them, and the game looked like ass too)
>>
>>319655529
Developers are focusing on making games more cinematic than fun. I pretty much only play games made by small studios on the pc nowadays.
>>
Nothing. At least for Sony. They'll be selling 100 million PS4s by the end
of the holiday season and on their way to fully monopolize Japan.

It's wonderful to know that Sony is the only company that
deserves to succeed with trash like Nintendo going bankrupt.

I guess it's a shame that Nintendo has no idea how to make games anymore.
But at least Sony will set the best example when they finish their remake of FFVII and SFV

for WHAT fucking purpose?
Not even PS4 or Xbone does region lock.
>>
>>319655978
People dont have time for video games anymore.
Every company that does not have a major publisher in the back tries to produce the next Angry Birds, Minecraft, Rocket League.

It exists, especially in the Japanese market. It just doesn't get much media attention exactly because it's not AAA or indie.

The vast majority of what I'm looking forward to next year is in the bracket between AAA and indie, ranging from games like The Witch and the Hundred Knight Revival to American Truck Simulator.

If you're not finding something in it that satisfies you personally then that's another thing entirely.

Get a job or something that makes videogames not your main thing
That way the time you get to play videogames you'll want to do everything in what ever you're playing.

Most middle ground developers have began going towards Kickstarter and other crowdfunding sources for this reason.

If you want to make an AAA game, you need a big name publisher to back you. If you want to make a middleground game, you need more than what an indie dev makes but less than what AAA requires, but the main problem with middleground games these days is how do they stand out without a multimillion dollar marketing budget or popular brandname to exploit?

1: no more gimmicks, flat out. End of story, fuck Nintendo for this. This killed Nintendo and unfortunately with non physical gimmicks, the other companies because they focused too hard on these gameplay gimmicks instead of just making a fucking videogame. Whether it be cinematics, or QTE shit, or multichoice dialogue wheels. It all ignores gameplay and takes control from the game and takes development time away from making a great videogame.

2: Focus on game design and not pandering, that is the problem with gaming now in that they try too hard to pander to specific groups (i.e. women, casuals, wiggers) instead of just making a good game. most of us grew up in a time where there were no specific groups to pander to, gaming wasn't hugely succesful and there were no big money shareholders to impress. Gaming was better back then because as much as YES THEY WERE THERE AS COMPANIES TO MAKE MONEY like the paid damage control shills like to say, games were made for gamers, not nongamers and casuals. Which brings me to the next point.

3: take the money out of it, this is probably impossible but shareholders/investors are probably one of the largest things killing gaming now. If they dont see super numbers and instant blockbuster killer IP's they freak out and withdraw money and this makes publishers freak out and keeps gaming sterile and mainstream. It's not like >>319655646 says, gaming has literally become sterile to produce max profit leaving the creativity and ingenuity that used to push gaming along behind completely.

tl;dr money and casuals killed gaming, find a way to remove them and gaming is saved. Paid damage control/neofags incoming.

As a Nintendofan

What they should do to with NX to improve from Wii U/3DS

First off I think the hybrid is good idea, Microsoft kind is already doing this with the surface where you can connect a keyboard to a table and it adds power

Controller wise
>wii u gamepad backward compatibility, to keep off tv optional and so I don't have to buy a new gamepad for it to carry over
>Multitouch, this opens up more possibilities, I love how you can pinch to zoom on some games on Vita, also would like to see what Kamiya has in mind
>GC Triggers, needed for certain GC possible vc/remakes
>a Nunchuck 2, I like the body of it but the buttons are limited, double pointer for dual wield could be cool
>speaking of buttons, I would like back buttons like the Xbox Elite Controller
>maybe nunchuck 2 can be attachable to work like a pro controller
I just got a PS4, my only problem is having to install games regardless whether physical or not and online paywall obviously

As for overall console game

They should give us the option for graphics setting, let us set our priorities on frames, texture and resolution, hell Bioshock on Xbox had a higher frame rate option

Also Fully remapable buttons for all games

Casuals kill gaming every few decades. They're starting to realize gaming is getting crappy already, so it should only be a few years until the crash reaches its climax and we're left with devs who like games for another generation.

In the meantime, learn to make vidya. Maybe you can help make niche autist bullcrap like dorfort for us to take refuge in until the time comes.

There's no such thing. Sounds like you're bored of vidya & wanting to look for a new hobby?

If you're not do something else & stop thinking about vidya so much?
>>
>>319655529
Nothing is wrong with current gen gaming other than AAA games.

If you ignore AAA games, then video games have become better than ever than they were before.
>>
>>319658904
>There's no such thing.

You're right. Same thing with hopping on the swingset.
It's still fun, but after a while it loses it's appeal and people point and laugh at you.
