There's Australian servers for recent/very popular games, but anything off the beaten path dies very quickly. Games like Evolve has been stone-cold dead for months, despite sales. At least in the US there's 500 or so players on constantly. PC games die especially quickly, as apparently PC gaming isn't that popular here.
And it depends on what kind of game - for something like an MMO, the lag is usually 250ms to 400ms - it's manageable but not great obviously. For an FPS it's pretty unplayable.

I'm not even a fan but I like the series enough that even I got a solid urge to just queue up the movies on my second monitor and blast away in this piece of shit. Thankfully my 3rd worlder paycheck is more than enough to stop me from spending anything on EA titles - but I doubt the same applies in the US.
