Jak I > Jak II = Jak 3
2 and 3 are different enough to 1 that I can't really put them on the same level, and 1's platforming/style beats out the gameplay shakeups of the other two.

Jak and Daxter was the only good one.
Jak 2 and Jak 3 were literally boring "open world" try hard edgy shooters. Like the epitome of jumping the shark, Shadow the Hedgehog-esque shit. Everyone fucking hates on this stuff but for some reason Jak 2 and 3 ALWAYS get a pass from fans.
I don't get it. Not just that but the gameplay was objectively shit in 2, which is usually everyone's favorites. Literally worst checkpoint system ever and like 90% driving or racing missions with terrible controls and cars made of explodium. The third person gunplay was fucking atrocious, and this was around the time Ratchet and Clank was massively popular, so there's no excuse for overlooking this in Jak. Escort missions out the ass.
God just fuck Jak 2 altogether and Jak 3 wasn't much better. I loved the charm and creativity of Jak and Daxter, but it went to shit when they turned it into "edgy futuristic gritty city and dark eco curse" garbage.
Learning that the Precursors wereDaxter's racewas the only redeeming quality of the last two games because it brought the story back to silly quirky roots from the first game.
