How quick do you cast Town Portal?

I press enter.
Those skeletons are low level. If my tank has a decent gear (and I assume the one on the left is a tank), he can solo them easily.

Yeah fuck that.
If there's one thing I really dislike about MM6, it's those dungeons full of perma dispelling and manaburning creatures.

What bothers me more about the dungeons is that you can never rest. There's always one enemy somewhere behind a wall even though they can't possible reach you.
>>

>permanent aging spells were the worst
My memory is a bit hazy, but couldn't you drink some black potions to reverse aging? Or did those only affect 'temporary' aging curses? Maybe I'm thinking about 7.
I do remember having some old ass characters, who got permanent bonuses to int and per(?) and penalties to str, end (and agi?). Anyways, those were indeed permanent, if I'm not mistaken.

Is it worth playing MM6?
>>
>>319560864

Of course
>>
>>319560864
Sure. It plays just like 7 and 8 for the most part.
And I'd say it's definitely better than 8.

Is there any gameplay difference? I noticed barely anything aside from new sprites and shit in 7 and 8.
>>
>>319562356
I feel like turn based combat is more important in 6, but you can still play it in real time, if that's your thing.
But like you said, the differences are very minor, it's just more of the same old MM.

I found real time nearly impossible for anything but trash mobs.
You can't strafe, and it seems like you actually get more turns in turn based mode than you do in real time.

It does seem that way, although I don't know if that's actually true.

>I found real time nearly impossible for anything but trash mobs.
>You can't strafe [...]
I appreciate original MM mechanics, but whenever I play MM these days, I always play with these patches: https://sites.google.com/site/sergroj/mm - they implement full mouse look, normal strafing and other quality of life features. I don't feel the patches compromise the original experience, but they certainly add to it.

Almost all of them are really great, start with either 4&5 or 6 and have a lot of patiance because nothing will be explained to you
>>
>>319567010
>These games any fun?
Depends on who you ask, I guess.
MM games are definitely my favourite RPGs... right after Wizardry 8.

I couldn't get into 4 and 5 though, grid based movement is a huge turn off for me.
>>
>>319567010

they're very, very good. i only played morrowind from elder scrolls, they kinda have a similar taste. MM is more generic fantasy until the endgame, and has a party.

I can only speak for MM7, but I would definitely rate it top tieer with the mouse look patch.

Very unforgiving game and not a whole lot of direction, but there is a true sense of dread when exploring because of sudden bullshit amount of mobs or level 30 dragons attack you when you're trying to do what you think is a simple fetch quest.
Ex. accepting an early-game quest in the swamp town to investigate a cellar, then get swarmed by demons and fucking vampire lords when you go down there.

You can also get all kinds of powerful shit by properly exploring and finding hidden stuff, which is really neat.

Mob levels are all over the place, making it so fighting isn't actually an option sometimes and you kind of just have to make a run for the objective.

Some clever puzzles too.

Cons:
- constant S+M1 combat in the overworld, melee is just garbage until past mid-game
- no explanation for a ton of mechanics, but that's with almost all old games

That's correct though.
>>
How does everyone feel about using the Shrine of the Gods/Developer Office at the start?

I always do it since it makes early game a lot more bearable. It's not like it makes you overpowered, it just makes you less fragile.
>>
>>319568446
A mapping tool is more than enough.
>>
>>319569139
nah. Its way to hard to pull off without savescumming/experiance and breaks the early game.
>>
>>319569139
i usually use when i run weird comps like SCCS or DDDD. I used them in KACS runs only when i just needed an overpowered run
>>
I have been thinking about giving these games a try since I enjoyed SMT series. I remember from the last thread you should equip all your teammates with bows or you will get shit on. Not sure what MM I should do that in though.
>>
>>319569139
20 to stats curiously doesn't make you all that good without proper spells, equipment and skills.
>>
>>319569678
>you should equip all your teammates with bows or you will get shit on
Not a bad idea. It works the best in 6, since everyone can use bows.
And get early heroism.

>>
>>319560351
more?
>>
>>319569678

Bows are really useful since there's no penalty for equipping them (they go in a separate equip slot), and in early game it's pretty much the only way to not get stomped.
>>
>>319558237
those skeltals seem to be dancing, i will dance with them while the rest of the party plays some funky slap bass jams.

No atleast not in 6 anyway
>>
>>319572301
Armor dosn't prevent skillcasting or anything like that. It's just that you normally cant wear anything heavier than leather on sorcerer and druid. Archer and Cleric can wear up to chain, and only pally and knight can learn plate. There is a bug that lets you bypass those limits, but you can just use a trainer anyway.
