My GPU recently broke and now I'm stuck with my internal Intel graphics chip. I want to use this opportunity to play some old classics and graphical not demanding games.

Any genre goes.

Get the Complete version on GOG or wherever.

Seconding Recettear.

You'll probably only get ~12 hours of playing before you're sick of shopkeeping, but damn is it fun. Like, surprisingly fun.

You barely even dungeon crawl, you just sit in your store managing your capitalist empire, selling sailor uniforms to old men for 10,000 gold.

Half-life was made to be filtered. consumer 3d accelerators were already a thing early in development.

Suggesting playing in 640x480 is just bizarre, i played 800x600 day one.

old enough to have played it on release. when you increase the pixel density of the art by 2x it's not the same perception of the art. yes the game looked like that but it didn't look like that.

Yeah, that's why most 2D PC games age nicely. You just need to increase rendering resolution to make them a bit more playable on newer hardware
>>319525523
That already into perfectionist territory. If you have such fanatic heavy demands, you probably already have another 90s~00s~ PC setup ready to go with CRT display to boot.
I mean I get you, I have CRT TV for 4-6 gen consoles too, but PC games took minimum hit from transferring to more hires LCD displays

I don't have and didn't make any demands, I said the game didn't look like that. Showing art at double pixel density doesn't represent the way the game looked. Not that it didn't look great. I'm just saying.

>crt

LOL. As someone who grew up with them, couldn't wait to do away with them and never see one again. I think it's hilariously cute that kids now chase this horrible technology because it's "vintage"

up to 6th gen 3D games looks worse on LCD displays, even if you use component cables.
LowPoly models and blurred textures become way more easier to notice. 2D 6th gen look a bit better, but doesn't worth it.
Connect PC-Engine for example to any modern LCD screen and say that it looks better than what you get via connecting it to any old ass CRT TV. It isn't.

>I don't have and didn't make any demands, I said the game didn't look like that. Showing art at double pixel density doesn't represent the way the game looked. Not that it didn't look great. I'm just saying.
Nobody forces you to install mod, just put your monitor in 4:3 mode and play game as you want. I fail to see how widescreen mods make it all worse and "not true to original" tho.
>>
>>319526426
why would i play an old video game? what are you arguing about? did i try to start any argument with you or say anything that needed to be contradicted or argued about? rofl

>Nobody forces you to install mod, just put your monitor in 4:3 mode and play game as you want.

What the FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Did I ever say anything about playing this game?
>>
>>319526567
Ah, you are here to shitpost, gotcha
>>
>>319526628
bro i made a comment and you spent like 5 paragraphs typing all this utterly insane shit

i never said the game looked worse, i never commented on playing it or told anyone how to play it

what i said is

when you present a game as having double the pixel density that it had on release

you are not portraying what the game actually looked like. you're portraying a version of the game that is zoomed out and has double the pixel density. we could not even run games at that resolution when it came out

you somehow turned this into an argument in your head, your insane need to argue from being here has warped your mind

then you tell me i'm shitposting after your paragraphs on paragraphs of utterly fucking ludicrous insane shit that had NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING I WAS TALKING ABOUT OR ANYONE ELSE
