Why do so many praise Dark Souls for the "amazing lore", when it stole so heavily from Berserk? I'm not trying to say DaS is a bad game or anything, but I think it's really pathetic that a lot of people seem to forget that its lore was heavily borrowed from another series in many areas of it.

Not the guy you're asking, but its common knowledge that the eye orb is basically a homage to the behelit, Npcs named the same as characters from Berserk, enemy demons who are clearly designed after berserk baddies, Gwyndolin is like Griffith, artorias like guts, with all the 1armed shenanigans. In my opinion, its all just fun homage.
The whole "demons infesting the world" in Demons Souls was a DEFINITE ripoff of Berserk though.

There are some influences, but most of the shit people connect is just stuff that's been around forever. Berserk has it's influences too, suprise.
Apart from a few characters and some armor pieces, there aren't that many things you can say it's straight out of Berserk.

Except it didn't really. The most blatant references are things like these, which aren't really significant (I know the image is Demons but it's the same in DaS). These are just furnishings -- there are some weapon and armor sets which are reminiscent of items in the manga, but that has little to do with the background information. The rest of the aesthetic, as well as the lore, is inspired by lots of other fiction, as well as reality.
I don't know how you could have linked the "lore" or the story to Berserk; they don't resemble each other at all, as far as I can tell. You could have provided some examples.

its not the trope, so much as the execution of it, the inclusion of the darksign, the fact that the whole of boletarias mess can be attributed to one guy fucking everything up, and demons taking over the top echelons of society in general in both stories.
I wouldnt say it was stolen so much as heavily influenced by.

There are a few designs that reference Berserk. A lot more of the designs are borrowed from a D&D book Miyazaki read when he was younger. You're a fucking idiot for thinking any of that constitutes as lore or diminishes the atmosphere in any way. Berserk isn't wholly original either.

Dark Souls didn't "steal" much. That's the kind of thing you'd say if you played Dark Souls and then sort of glanced at a few Berserk chapters. It takes a lot of visual cues and inspiration from Berserk, throws out a couple homages here and there but nowhere does it outright lift exact designs. Artorias is nothing like Guts or the Berserker armour except in that one cover art.
