Why is this game so praised by Megaman fans? I don't consider myself a true fan of the Megaman series but enjoyed 2, 3, 7, X, X2, X3 and 8.

I tried playing this on my DS and was struck with spontaneous difficulty and aggravating music (terrible).

It's really not that good, Zero 2 and 3 are way better in just about every aspect
>>
>>319480361
because let's be honest, it was either this or battle network. Everyone who wanted Megaman X around again ran to this game.
>>
>>319480361
Because its so difficult (unless you grind) and that's all the Megaspergs look for in these games.

2 and 3 are better, been replaying one recently, it just keeps kicking me in the dick

a fucking
escort mission in a megaman game
god damn

The escort mission was only one tiny part of the game, stacked up against the other game's problems it doesn't mean much.

Also 2 was hardly any better aside from some completely optional forms which to say are a pain in the ass to acquire in the first place would be the ultimate understatement to end all understatements.
>>
Zero 1 was rough around the edges, zero 2 and 3 were great, zero 4 is meh apart from the last level.

2 and 3 are the amazing ones from this series and honestly among the best Megaman games. 1 was artificial difficulty, 4 was decent.

It's like fucking playing Megaman 1. Shit's mad unforgiving for no god damn reason and it feels aged as fuck.

Only Megaman X and Megaman Legends 1 were good Megaman games that were the first iterations.

Megaman 1, Zero 1, Battle Network 1, Starforce 1, Xtreme, and The Power Battle all aged awfully compared to their sequels.

Maybe they threw it in so you'd finally have a reason to use the shield?

I've played it enough that it's easy to me now
Getting enjoyment out of Mega Man Zero is all about gitting gud enough that you can get >90 points off every mission with minimal effort

I like the music too

2 was also artificial difficulty as fuck.
>>
>>319485785
The only parts of 2 I'd really consider artificial difficulty is getting the easiest boss stage for the phoenix fight and the ship hopping during the mid game level.

Also that jungle level with the elevator right next to the cliff where the dudes fling their maces at you while you have no way to dodge it since another one would be right above you etc. it's the little things like that which go a long way.
>>
>>319486478
I can't remember that one so I guess it wasn't much of a problem.
>>
>>319486478
I always just walljumped up that part while fucking up the mace dudes as I went.

It has some good concepts, but they were poorly executed. Buster/Sabre combat and the ability to seamless use both at the same time was great, but killing enemies was tedious unless you grinded to max level. The cyber-elves were a nice idea for a useful but optional collectable, but the game punished you for using them so it was pointless.

Zero 2 and 3 ironed out a lot of its problems (particularly 3). 4 was alright, but they added that god-awful item grinding for upgrades.
>>
>>319485785
Nah. You just needed to git gud. If you can't into sick dodging play Strider on Genesis on the hardest difficulty.
>>
>>319487883
How do you even get the saber to max level, and what do you get out of it? I always finish one star short of the maximum. I never felt it was necessary to grind much anyway, you get the lv2 charge abilities for both buster and saber by just playing the first couple stages normally.

This is how I feel about Zero 3. I've pretty much found every secret in the game and have completed the game over 20 times on the same file. I have no idea why I loved it so much, but I did and still do.

Not like you really needed the items in 4, since it was so much easier compared to the other games. On the upside Cyber Elves were turned to something fucking useable without murdering your rank.

Thank god they removed the level grinding in 3, it was annoying replaying the entry level of Zero 2 until I maxed every weapon.
