I miss this series not you ?
Best fps evar
No, I've still got my copy right here.
Played it a bunch of times, I think I've had all the fun I can lurking it's moist forests, not hopeful for the sequels at all either.

We're due for a new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game.
Too bad the dev died.
How did a dev who made such a great game die?

Slavs have a hard lifes

The jew who ran it ruined literally everything
Call of Pripyat has been sitting in my inventory for over a year now.
Should I mod it when I finally do open it up? I really hate the ballistics in the first two.
>>319406421
Horrible management, also I think SoC was something of a fluke, it took them a lot of work to make CoP comparable to it.
>>319406571
Pretty sure the ballistics are the same in all games.
Think it's best to play it vanilla first, then install Misery and play it again.
>>319406571
No, CoP has great ballistics vanilla.
>>319406294
Kek. That was unexpected.

I never played any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, im about to start playing Shadow of Chernobyl, it's a good start?

Your English ducks frog.
>>319407521
From memory all the games are pretty similar, except in the first one it's far easier to get artefacts.
>>319407521
It's a great start, lower your expectations and don't come back asking for help.

4A Games, makers of Metro and composed of some members of STALKER devs claims they're working on their next project that's a bit more "sandboxy" than Metro.
My guess and hope is a Metro that plays like STALKER.
I loved Shadow of Chernobyl. Only played it vanilla though, might be even better with mods.
Clear Sky wasnt that great but I played through it modded and I guess it was OK. Used only World War 2 weapons through the entire game to try and make things a little interesting.
It seems like most fans like Call of Pripyat, however I really didnt and couldnt even bother completing it. Maybe it just lacked some of the unproffessional slav charm or something, I dont know. Might replay it once with mods I guess.

SoC as we know it was actually a heavily stripped down and streamlined version of the STALKER game GSC was originally working on, for a good 5 years at that. It was still ended up being breddy gud, no matter that the v1.0 was buggy as hell.
CS was just rushed out, unfortunately. Plenty of its elements were then used in CoP, which was the first game to actually be properly tested before the release, and it shows.
>>319406571
The ballistics are fine in the games.
In case of CS and CoP, you WILL need to UPGRADE your gear in order to bring out their true potential.
>>319407521
Yes, it's the ONLY acceptable start.
Consult this Starting Guide,
then see the /vg/'s huge Stalker General for more tips and links: >>>/vg/stalker
Play in the release order. Start with no mods - only latest patch, OR get the full "Starter Pack" first; these contain bug-fixers and light visual mods that can help performance as well.
Leave big overhauls for later playthrougs. Avoid the "Complete" -mods. Always play on MASTER difficulty for best realism and atmosphere, and disable crosshair.
Don't give up in the beginning! The starting gear sucks ass and first area is quite boring.

I bought the three STALKER games on GoG during the last sale for cheap, downloaded the setup files, put them on a flash drive and hid them in case online distributors die out and I can still play them.I have the games on Steam already.
You just reminded me that I'm still in the first or second third into the game

They still got a greedy idiot in charge?
>>319411135
yes. And he's the only member from the original team that's even left.
worst thing about it all is the fact that he's also the only owner of STALKER's IP.
