Silent hill plays on that quite a bit i suppose but it does it tastefully. I haven't played the room yet I hope it's a good game though. I don't think the quality of 1 2 and 3 will degrade because of a shitty 4th

how about some criticism instead? Tank controls are horrible. its an artificial way to make the game difficult, its not fun. I'd much rather have actual game design and intelligent AI rather than sitting there turning like the seconds hand on a clock while an enemy wails on me from behind.

Downpour was pretty fun. Homecoming's story was a lot dumber, and the bosses were really damn hard because of the combat system.

You know what makes SH2 the best one? No fucking dogs.
But, seriously, I replayed 1-3 recently and there's no doubt that 2 is the best of the bunch. Also, I always get hate for this, but I didn't mind Homecoming so much, EXCEPT for the human fights and the stupid Smog monsters. Downpour, now that should have never been made.
Would anyone like me to upload my copy of SH2 PC to Mega or something?

I admittedly have no idea why her dad was pissed at you though, since I'm pretty sure he forgave Murphy when he was alive. Was it just that woman's anger about her dad that spawned the old man in the wheelchair? The Wheelman was for Murphy and the dude that killed his kid.

It was mostly Murphy's guilt over what happened to him. It's canon that Sewell beat him.

I think you get that ending if you let her kill you at the very end. She's vengeful about her dad (like Murphy was vengeful about his kid), but the desire for vengeance is what causes the Silent Hill in that game, by my understanding, so if she kills you as the wheelman, she still has some adventuring to do.
The best ending in that game comes from attacking her as the wheelman until she collapses, but then not executing her. Then the cycle is broken, you two make up and part ways.
There's also an ending where you kill her as the wheelman, and you're treated to a cinema of Murphy being found guilty of murdering her and all the other guards and he's executed by lethal injection. Then there's the role reversal ending and a joke ending where Murphy escapes from prison and finds his way to a surprise birthday party. I think Pyramid Head is at the party too, buts it's been a minute since I played it.

And I don't care what anyone says about Homecoming, the combat was refreshing, felt great to finally have get some cool looking combat with the monsters, it actually adds challenge, especially if you're playing on hard.

I got everything I needed from one of these posts from another thread, however whenever I try to actually run Silent Hill 2, 99% of the time I just get an indefinite black screen on start up.
I even set the affinity to a single processor but I only ever got it to start properly once by sheer luck starting it over and over again.
Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? I really want to play through these games.

First movie is actually okay, it didn't age that well though.
I think I ruined these games for me. I think when I try to set the mood for when I play and try to be immersed, I go out of my way to make it happen, but ultimately ruin the experience by having less fun doing so.
I have this problem with any game that has at least some sort of substantial narrative.
