Yen is the canon choice.
Triss is a cute, but the only reason she is a option is because she seduced Geralth after he got amnesia.
Meanwhile, Geralth still has wet dreams with Yen no matter who you choose.
Also Triss is more like Ciri sister, while Yen is the closest thing to a mom Ciri ever had. And its important to note that Triss was okay with having sex with Geralth even though Yen is her best friend.

Well, yeah. Right now I am only level 5 and I just finished that fight with the wild hunt guy you meet when you meet up with that witch in the cabin and go underground to find that elf who apparently was hanging out with Ciri.
There's also the issue that half the fucking contracts I get are like level 30+. Also it's not like I can go grind exp/money off of enemies in the forest.
