step forward instead of dashing when he does the jumping attack in phase one for an easy backstab.
can get an easy backstab when he does the magic ring attack
another easy backstab is when he does the double circular whip attack.
The lightning attack always comes from Kos so just go far out in the water to avoid it, it's easy.
parry his charge into uppercut attack as well.

Dont use heavy charged attacks, it will leave you open to him kicking your ass, use a quick weapon like the saw cleaver or saif, use beast blood pellets, and just swipe at him quickly so he doesn't attack, rinse repeat. He can be parried and staggered as well

This. It took me like 10+ tries to beat him, but the worst thing you can do is get greedy and try to combo him down. I wiped twice when i had him down to like 5% HP, panicked because I didn't have any health items left and tried to combo the rest of his health down. Look for those backstab openings.

Biggest tip I have is to always dodge FORWARD and to the left in his second phase. Dodging backwards will get you killed. Also, blood pellets wreck his shit in the first phase. Use fast attacks for the second phase, and keep trying.

Better suggestion is to fight him in the water, the camera is more lenient there and will help you position yourself in such a way that you can avoid getting hit. Also, dodging towards the lightning works

He doesn't use any visceral attacks because of the scaling at his level and the ng+ he is on. His charged R2 actually does more damage than his visceral attacks.
Persistence. Took me like 30 tries. It wasn't until my successful attempt that I realized I was supposed to be passive the first form and aggressive the second.
Additionally I'm not the biggest fan of the Holy Moonlight Sword. Maybe I just didn't build it correctly but I did like 400 a hit on orphan.

Learn his moves for the first phase so you always know how to dodge. Use a big weapon that's capable of stunning along with the Guidance rune that gives +20% to rally which allows you to get a greater amount of health back per hit so you don't have to waste time using blood vials.
As for phase 2, stay close and behind him if possible. Pray he doesn't cast lightning.

Laurence is literally artificial difficulty and a lazy rehash, it's just as worse as getting gangfucked in DaS II in general.
The other 4 DLC bosses are excellent and Orphan of Kos in particular is among the best designed challenges and he fucked my shit up at least +20 times on NG+ with or without a summon.
He's certainly among the hardest bosses in the series alongside Maneater, Manus and Burnt Ivory King.

Just dodge to his left (at least I think it was his left) so you get behind him and hit him twice, and back off, rinse and repeat. If you've got a lot of bullets left by the time he's in his second form you can just spam parries at him and you'll probably pull off a few visceral attacks. I'm pretty sure the bullshit lightning attack is easier to dodge if you're running around out in the water too. There are probably better ways to do it but that's how I pulled it off with the whirligig saw in mace mode (you could probably do it fine in saw form too but it depends on how comfortable you are with the speed of its swings).

I didn't try it myself but I watched a video of some nip in NG+4 do it, and contrary to the fights like the one with the Hydra in DS1, you can actually run out into the water along the beach without dying for quite some length. In the video he runs into the water whenever the lightning attack starts because it moves him so far away from the starting point of the attack that it spreads out enough by the time it reaches him that it becomes easier to dodge.
