Are gamecube games 'iconic'?
It feels like gamecube games never entered the public consciousness like N64 games did.
Everyone remembers Mario Kart and Mario 64. They're 'iconic', they're go to examples of 'video games' to normies if you want to do a parody or do something video game themed.

Pikmin and Animal Crossing are the only iconic 1st party GCN games I can think of, since those franchises started there.

Neither of those were prominent enough to be considered "iconic" even though they were unique. Luigi's Mansion only got one sequel after 11 years, and Eternal Darkness faded into obscurity. Animal Crossing and Pikmin both went on to become a mainstream franchise.

And those are just the popular games. The GC has some hidden gems like Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean.

I'd argue Wind Waker is iconic. Not as much as Ocarina of Time but its distinctive style has something of both mixed infamy and appreciation. Dedpised by a lot of fans expecting Spaceworld 2000 Tech Demo but appreciated by others. The "toon" design itself went on to be featured in several games since then.
