Does /v/ use fast travel?

If I don't feel like exploring at the moment then yeah.

It's easy to make gigantic maps when 99.9% is pregenerated nothing and the rest is copypasted dungeons and cities.

>tfw someone honestly believes that daggerfall overworld is good
>>
Only if the travel to and from is asinine, tedious, and populated with nothing interesting in between.

All the time
>>
If the games has fast travel, it is built around using it. I'm literally playing it in a way the developers didn't intend if I don't use it.
>>
>FO4 is tedious without fast travel
>FO4 is boring with it

You can't win.
>>

>>319284552
It's almost impossible to beat Daggerfall without fast travelling. It's easy to beat Skyrim without fast travelling.
>>
Fast travel always makes me feel like I'm rushing the game and skipping things.
>>
>>319284176
Only if it makes sense lore-wise or the world is so boring that makes me want to skip it.
>>
I played FO4 for 40 hours already before I realized I can fast travel. I even stockpiled 6 power armors in Sanctuary which was a lot of work.
I'm not kidding.
Please don't call me a retard again ;-;
>>
Do everything once without fast travel.

When going back to finish quests or dump items, fast travel.

Not wasting 30 minutes walking down an empty street with no loot
>>
I had a rule not to fast travel in Oblivion. I broke that rule about 50 times during the "Cure vampirism" quest. Fuck that quest.
>>
I do but say I don't on /v/ so people can think that I'm hardcore and better than them
>>
>>319285821
are you new to bethesda games?
>>
It kills immersion for me. Using carriages is fine, but fast travelling makes it feel more like a to-do-list than an actual game.
>>
there is a mod that makes it playable in unity and you can crank up all kinds of shit and it is being worked on as we speak
>>
>>319285821
I played all of Fallout 3 and NV before knowing you could fast travel, also Red Dead Redemption

I'm actually glad I didn't know though

>fast travel that consumes resources and has a chance of random encounters

I need it
>>
>>319286003
Yes. I tried playing earlier Bethesda games when they came out but I just couldnt get myself to like them.
I even have Skyrim playing in my steam library with only 1 hour of playtime.
>>
>>319284176
paid fast travel like in Morrowind makes sense, but the modern 'just teleport here' doesn't. I never use it when it's free, it just feels like I'm skipping parts of the game, makes it feel like a checkbox simulator instead of something to experience.
>>
>>319286240
I don't blame you. Skyrim's pretty boring. In fact, every Bethesda game is ultimately unrewarding.
>>
>>319285387
I didn't care about no fast travel in Morrowind because it was actually fun to walk around because of how atmospheric the land was. Especially with things like that flying mage. Same with Oblivion.

With newer beth games like Skyrim and Fallout 3 (FNV is alright because I usually roleplay which makes it fun) no fast travel is boring because there's nothing to look at. STALKER was great at this because of the blowouts, which made walking around fun and exciting because I never knew when I'd have to find cover.
>>
>>319286196
Doesn't wasteland 2 do that? Which basically takes after Fallout 1 and 2.
>>
>>319286196
Fallout 2 has random encounter and uses fuel if you're traveling by car. I can't remember how hard it was to find fuel though.
>>
>>319286196
>>319284176
In Bethesda games, there's really no reason not to fast travel. Maybe not in Fallout 4 since there's quite a bit of stuff scattered around, but it seems like Bethesda games tend to actually punish you for not fast travelling. Quests that make you go between two places frequently are terrible even when you fast travel.

>>319286568
It used ammunition for one of the energy weapons IIRC

Sometime shortly after Morrowind's release, all the casuals started jumping on board the Elder Scrolls train and devs started catering to them. Granted even Morrowind was dumbed down quite a bit from Daggerfall, but at least it wasn't completely casualized yet. For instance, to fast travel you actually had to find a silt strider or boat that was actually going the way you wanted.

Fallout 1/2 isn't really "fast travel" though as there is no overworld to walk in. It's just travelling.

The random encounters are cool though, especially how a lot are relevant to the areas they are in.
>>
>>319285308
Not even that guy. But it's not about the overworld.
The world of Daggerfall fucking sucks. The dungeons are pretty much its only saving grace. But that's aside the point.

Just compare the fast travel menus. I am sure that's what he was thinking of.

Daggerfall
>speed
>transport
>stop for a night at...
>trip cost
>travel time

Skyrim
>Yes/No

This really is more than enough travel points. And that isn't even taking call and recall into account.

Why did they ever go from that to being able to fast travel from anywhere?
>>
>Dont have Fast Travel
>Its a pain in the ass to fight your way thorgh the same shitty streets/woods all over again
Recent example: Dying Light, Fallout 4

>Have fast travel
>Game becomes somehow to easy and boring
Example: Skyrim

I think Witcher 3 handled it pretty decent. You cant fast travel to every place on the map only to bigger ones and from there you must ride/run
