Which is what people have an issue with. That's not something they expect from Fallout, and it's not what people want from it. It works in games like The Witcher and Mass Effect, because a lot in the game is designed around that, and the dialogue options that skills can influence offer you to have a more personal level of interaction. In Fallout 4, you've lost the level of control you expect from an RPG.

From what I remember, you can talk others in to fighting alongside you, but you can't talk your way out of many actual fights, or being responsible for killing. You can avoid a fair amount by sneaking and stealing passwords to reach the end, but when it comes to interacting with a 'boss', it ends in conflict a lot. I'm saying this with the forgeworks in mind, and the Valentine quest with the girl. I had a 10 Charisma during those, and I don't recall being able to talk my way out of any conflict.

My mistake. I've only done the quest once, and didn't see the option to avoid the fight. Told the girl to leave and it triggered the mob boss every time.

Go to the settlement that's north west of the prydwen that's on the beach and set up the large water purifiers with the power needed to power them and you'll have a water farm. Sell the water (around 400 every 3-4 days) for caps and ammo and you should be good

You've latched on to the fact that "role playing game" doesn't accurately describe your average JRPG, despite being the name of the genre. Nobody really defends this or considers JRPGs to be games you can roleplay in, but there's no point in changing the name of a genre just to satisfy some semantics nerds.

The point is more that Fallout 4 is from a line of games where you CAN roleplay, and the roleplaying mechanics in it are very shit. But this thread is bait, isn't it?

This is not true, there are interesting perks in every tree and you won't be able to get them all for a long time. And at higher difficulty to have to specialise into something.

But at higher difficulty there's a huge difference in damage between a character that has bonus damage/95vats accuracy/modded weapon/bonus crit damage/vats recharge and another that just picked up a weapon. Same goes for melee, you can't do shit without the perks.

This is not true, almost every perk adds an bonus effect that gets better with every point.

i have pistols/rifles/machineguns/heavy weapons maxed + lock picking and hacking and armor/gun/science modding maxed

since like 75% perks are worthless you will max everything by lvl 50
