The only real gameplay flaws are the complete lack of VIT and the fact that physical and gun attacks use SP. Those basically make it so every single character build and demon you use needs to be full-magic glass cannon, and pray that RNGesus doesn't slap your shit with an unlucky Smirk, because if you get that you're dead.

Honestly still pretty fun to be honest famicom, but easily the weakest in the series.

Legitimate flaws.
I especially hate how all demons are glass cannons, though I think that the game made it so that demons depend more on skills (life surge, doping, rakukaja, nu/rs/dr) for longevity.
The action was very fast and I like that, but it does limit playstyle options significantly, and it feels less "strategic" and more "tactical".
My biggest problem is that with the infinite potential of fusions, it's difficult to not get bogged down in trying to fuse for the perfect demon. It slows the game down and every time I find my demons underleveled the game turns into a chore. If I get mauled by a boss because my demons aren't good enough, I feel like a shitty player.
And there's also the fact that almost all of the demons fit into some kind of stat archetype shared by many other demons. That shit's just fuckin stupid.

I really hope they reintroduce Vi as a distinct stat, though something tells me that just isn't going to happen. I also hope they overhaul stats in general.
The demon designs are less overwrought, which is one of my other big concerns with SMT IV.
I hope that fusion is made simpler.
But most of all I hope that it actually comes to the US.

Yeah, that's already confirmed to not happen, Vi is nowhere to be seen in the two gameplay videos we have.
But it's very likely to come to the US, IV did pretty well and ATLUS seems to care about MegaTen in the US, why wouldn't they release it here?

I think we can all easily agree that most of those comments are dumb, but isn't saying that IV is a step back from Nocturne a valid opinion? It DID reduce the routes back to flat, impersonal Law and Chaos, streamlined the skill sets and ability system for the MC, and whether you prefer 2D sprites or not, using them instead of 3D models is literally a step back. I actually really like IV, but I can perfectly see why someone who actually knew anything about the series would like Nocturne better, and really don't see why doing so is considered "the DARK SOULS of Persona" level.

Getting neutral is meant to be hard considering that it's the canon and longest route, but it's still pretty fucking easy if you have the slightest inkling as to what you're supposed to be doing to get it.

I have seen that.
I'm not quite sure I can see a definite absence or presence of Vitality, since I cannot read Japanese. If we assume that the stats are ordered the same way, it would seem that Archangel has a very high St stat, a low Dx stat, and a moderately high Ma stat, which seems strange, especially since few demons have stats like this in SMT IV. Googling showed nothing either, only GameFAQs polls and shit like that. While the moon runes looked similar for the stat screens between SMT IV Final and SMT IV, the moon runes for Ag and Lu in the same screenshots looked very similar to each other as well, so there may be some minute difference I'm overlooking.
It also seems strange that someone would choose to level up St and Ma together and completely neglect Dx, as appears to have happened in this screenshot.
Like, if you know more then by all means show me that I'm wrong, but right now it seems that there's no definitive evidence that Vit is gone.

You can't even fucking drag the map around and it isn't even interactive. There's just lines that show paths and dots all over the place that are also never really explained. Not only that, everything is referred to in-game by geographic names that no one except people who live in Tokyo would know, much less remember where it is in the map. Like when you go down the Sky Tower, you're in Ueno; great that's the region. But then later people start referring to shit like Midtown and the Hills, or Miyashita Park or Sunshine 60 which are specific places that have no hints to the region they're in based on their names. You can't even scroll around the map to figure out where they are, so you have to wander around aimlessly. You literally have to open up a real life map of Tokyo or be born in Japan to navigate this game with no problems.

Man, I really liked DeSu but the soundtrack was bland as fuck for the most part. Every music sounded the same, not to mention that every battle had the same 4 songs over and over.
With that said, IV, SJ and DDS1 have my favorite OSTs in the series.

If there's any problem with SJ's soundtrack it's that a lot of the music takes time to get going, so you don't hear the best parts of it as often as the introductions.

The character you're playing as and his companions are all strangers in a strange land. Not knowing where anything is straight away adds immersion and creates a sense of exploration that way too many RPGs nowadays lack. And Tokyo is one of the biggest metropolitan centers in the world, I don't think many Japs have it all memorised either.

But normally there's only two or three spots you can actually acces from what's open on the map right in front of you at the point in the story where you're told to go to those places. And more often than not, there are NPCs hanging about who's dialog gives you directions.

Or you can just wander into the area directly around where you are given the task, as that's always where you have to go if the place mentioned is new. The point is that there's no interactivity with the map in the first place. They put it in the touch screen and all you can do is see the street paths and dots all over the fucking place. The only other things you get are the name of the region you're in at the top and zooming in and out. What the FUCK is the point of a touch screen map if there is nothing on it that can be interacted with? Like if you could tap on dots and have it show what's there, great, that makes things less of a hassle. But there isn't and navigation is tedious because of it.

I'll concede the sense of exploration, but the map does jack shit in helping you navigate after you've visited an area. It fills up when you go to a new area on the map but without any other additional information you can access, it's just a useless blotch that you have to remember the contents of and that's where the problem is.

There are 3 Tokyos in the game and you're constantly going around the map in each of them. There's a lot of backtracking and bounding all over the place and the map being a useless piece of shit pads this like crazy. Also, the NPCs give directions referring not only to regions, but also to those specific locations I was complaining about, and using those as a reference point is retarded.

Towns and cities in old RPGs had landmarks and distinct visual styles that reinforced your memory of their location. SMT4's overworld is a retarded conglomeration of winding streets, highways, and dead ends with the same visual style.
