We are going to have a Mario Maker thread faggots, whether you like it or not

Shill your levels and leave feedback if you feel like it

Here's my latest level, I'm very satisfied on how it turned out I feel like it's one of my best

Is it garbage or a masterpiece? I don't know man.

When are things like mega/mini mushroom, ice flower, various suits, etc ever going to be patched in?

Game's powerup roster feels barren.
>>
>normal challenge : auto levels, easy levels, nice levels
>expert levels : kill you at start levels, wall jumping between spikes and fireballs levels, "chose one door to win, the 10 others kills you"

fuck that shit, I'll never finish that costume collection
>>
>>319205369
Honestly I don't feel the need for new powerups.
I would rather have new parts/enemies.
>>
>>319205369
Honestly I'm becoming pessimistic about Nintendo supporting this game with updates
Such a waste of potential

What this game needs is HUGE expansion pack for its potential to really be realized, and I hope we'll see something like that.
>>
>>319207705
I remenber you.
You posted your level pretending it was quite simple, and it started right away as a pixel perfect serie of jump.
I was so butthurt I gave up right away, and I'm usually quite persistent.

Deus Ex Magikoopa 2: Fire & Ice

These courses feel more like Metroid than Mario. The second one is a little easier, but it's also a little longer. Both have four pseudo-checkpoints early and two real checkpoints later. They also have lots of optional secrets.

If anyone can make it through either of these, I'll play everything you've made as soon as I see you on the course history.

>>319203624
I played this one last night. It's a lot of fun.

I'll probably be playing more later tonight.

You beat it? Awesome, man. I'll play through the rest of your stuff within the next day or so. I'm glad you had fun.

I have some ideas for another couple sequels, but I'm working on some smaller stuff at the moment.

>>319208234
Thanks dude.
Had to stop frequently during the creation because I was lacking inspiration, and I was afraid it would make the level feel like a clusterfuck.

You're probably already in my follow list. I try to play other people levels in appearing order so I can take quite some time, but I'll play yours eventually.

Bit Crusade is the series that I've been working on in Mario Maker in an attempt to add classic Mario platforming levels in course world. My take on a classic 1-1 to 8-4, with world theming, secrets, unique bosses, special worlds and the like.

A basic summary is enclosed in the image, as well as the starting point.

Feedback is encouraged but not necessary, I just want people to enjoy what they play.

I've also started a sequel, which is still in the works. As I finish the levels I'll post them here.

Bit Crusade 2:
Start here: 1-1: Back to Basics A839-0000-00D8-1BD7

Or if you've kept up, World 6 is done.
World 6
6-1: Giga-Guppy Grotto 4351-0000-0104-A410
6-2: Slamshoe Shanties C29E-0000-0106-C334
6-3: Sunken Squid Shrine FD26-0000-0109-3645
6-4: Boiling Hot Fire Fish! 769B-0000-010E-694A
Bonus #6: Deep Sea Treasure Run!
079D-0000-010E-85D1

Alternate tunes for those tired of the in-game music like I am:
6-1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTl0ky4DcHA
6-2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU2K9XueqcI
6-3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gMFhJN8HQY
6-4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q7tuOIiMng
Bonus 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mM3vOG4-PA

Gonna play some stuff here for a bit, then I gotta make some dinner. Stuffed shells, mmmmmmm....

>>319207356
I feel the same way, we are gonna need more than the website if this game is gonna stay alive.

>>319208374
Still haven't beaten it yet, stuff has been kinda hectic lately so playtime for me is scarce.

>>
>>319211049

>>
>>319210668
You can do it on courses you make. Shake the beating heart sound effect to get the mute, then attach it directly to Mario to stop the music for that course.
>>
>>319212179
thanks vinny
>>
>>319211669
You can do 20 Easy and 45 Normal before you have to do the other 30 Expert, but ONLY if you exhaust all earlier difficulties first. If you jump around and do harder ones early, there's a very good chance that you'll be given easier unlocks while playing harder difficulties, which will then force you to play more of the harder ones to unlock everything.

Oh yeah, I'll definitely play it, better than playing more Normal/Expert and trying to find a good level in them.

You can play my levels if you wish, but I have zero experience with level making, and I did only get the game a week or so ago, so judging form the caliber of your levels I doubt they'll be on par with the tons levels you've no doubt played on these threads by now.

You shouldn't downplay yourself like that, we all started somewhere.

>>319214559
Actually really enjoyed your levels! I like how you can go up or down in both of them. Very cool to have two methods to completing a level. A few cool hidden stuff too. So just keep making more levels like that, you'll get Stars because they're good levels.

Hey, remember a few years ago when the same guy that made Terraria basically made his own version of Mario Maker and then Nintendo sent him a CAD?

Just think, you could have been playing Mario Maker for the last 3 or 4 years and it would have cost $1.99 and been on PC, probably with mod support.

Let that sink in
>>
>>319217034
Well considering that I don't have a gaming PC I'm actually indifferent
>>
>>319214730
>>319214834
>>319215258
I suppose now's a good a time as ever to train my creativity. I really want to do a good underwater level but I cannot for the life of me think of an enjoyable concept, or even a simple underwater trek that either hasn't been done before in a Mario game or isn't boring as fuck to play through. I don't want to give up on making one because I've seldom seen fun water levels and I really want to try and make one to see if the water theme isn't inherently garbage.

In the mean time, have a level I found in expert the other day that I liked so much I saved it just to share with people in these threads.

I randomly got a level that turned out to be a part of a series of what I found out were called 'roleplay' levels.
The one I played was called "The Hotel! Part 1: Arrival".
It was literally a vertical "building" with "rooms" and people had commented stuff like *sleeps* and *eats at restaurant* all over the place.
There were 4 fucking parts, one was 'the swimming pool', another was 'cave exploration' and the last was 'the drive home'.
None of them were levels. They were all 'areas' with shitty autists leaving roleplay comments all over the place. The last one was literally a straight line to the finish with laiktu clouds and a 'road'. And people had put shit like *stops at service station*.

I didn't think I would ever witness such a high concentration of autism in one place. This was a couple of months ago though so I doubt I could find it again.

Someone really ought to create a platformer ground-up designed with customization in mind. Mario works well because the controls are solid and people are familiar with the basics such as what a ? block does and what a goomba is, but there are better opportunities to create something more in-depth and more fun.

Also, thanks to people I just reached my next medal, which means more DKC trilogy levels. I already have nine of them made, and I have to warn fellow anons, there are a LOT of hard levels in the 9 I have made so far:

DKC1 levels:
Vulture Culture.
Croctopus Chase.
Millstone Mayhem.
DKC2 levels:
Parrot Chute Panic.
Mainbrace Mayhem.
Toxic Tower.
DKC3 levels:
Doorstop Dash.
Demolition Drain-Pipe.
Springin' Spiders.

I'm working on my last three levels now, which will be Krevice Kreepers from DKC3, Web Woods from DKC2, and Misty Mine from DKC1.

As for my talk about how hard some of these levels are:
I made Croctopus Chase's gimmick not only unbreakable, but the Crocotpus is a blooper AND a muncher, both flying speed, and the muncher means you can be crushed by it if you don't move fast.
Vulture Culture jumps were a bit hard, but I added a cape to make the jumps easier.
Parrot Chute Panic is the same kind of hell the original level was. You get capes to float down slowly through falling grinder mazes. I think there are parts that can be cheesed, but I wouldn't try, its a long level, and if you lose your cape too easily, it will become unwinnable.
TOXIC MUTHAFUKIN TOWER HOLY SHIT. If you EVER feel like you are going to fast in this level, chances are you are dead already.
Demolition Drain-Pipe is another level you can expect from me, another ridiculously hard coaster course.

I am off to start uploading.

My first new level is up.

DKC3-Doorstop Dash
60A5-0000-010F-13F7

In the original level, you pull down bars to open doors, but once you let go the door slowly closes, so you have to quickly go through before it shuts.
Same thing here, I was able to create regenerating gates. Use the POW block to destroy the muncher to open the gate, but a bullet bill launcher will attempt to fire a new muncher into its place to close the gate back up, so you have to hurry and get through before it closes. Its more of a fun level then a hard level really.

Hey boys, I got some levels for everyone.

Pipe Dream
0887-0000-0107-144A
Not a hard level, and has a secret exit.

Cave Explorer
7099-0000-0108-5954
A good bit of a trick level, be careful.

Ghouling Pain Mansion
3DE7-0000-010D-B393
This one is rather tough, best advice I can give is to go fast.

I'd love some people to play and give what they think about the levels.

Number two of my NINE finished levels now uploaded.

DKC2-Parrot Chute Panic
0DEB-0000-010F-175C

Just like the original level, its hard. You must use the cape to slow glide down and move left or right to avoid the grinders. I beat it while normal gliding, but it was still hard to do. The best advice I could give is to try to duck glide most of the time, cause it makes the hitbox smaller. Also, the number of feathers in the level is equal to the number of DK barrels in the original level, which means there aren't many. You could probably cheese some parts if you know a feather is close, but I wouldn't risk it. Also, like all my levels it has a checkpoint. No matter how hard my levels might get, I always make sure to have a checkpoint, except when the checkpoint would break the level's main theme.

I love your game console recreation levels the most. Maybe you could do a minigame level with game boy colors or DSs only.

Number 3 of my nine finished levels.

DKC1-Vulture Culture
EB0A-0000-010F-1C05

The original level was about bouncing on the vultures called Necky's to move forward. Here, its bouncing on koopa's on rails to move forward. Some of the jumps were too hard, so I changed the normal mushroom for a cape for added distance. Hopefully the level isn't too hard thanks to this, as its a level not meant to be that hard. It was the first level of world three in the original game after all. Most people beat it, and then got rekt on Tree Top Town right after usually.

Well, I will get back to uploading the other six later, first I need to finished the last three levels of this medal run. Once that is done, I will upload all nine of them, and then get back to playing the levels I see in these threads. Have fun anons.

I really like your Vanilla Cave level. You capture the essence of the vanilla dome very well.

Hey thanks. I always try to keep my levels somewhat authentic to the old games. Glad you liked it.

Been a while since I've shared my levels with /v/

Iggy's Ruins
9B28-0000-00FE-4B94

It's a remake of Iggy's castle from SMW. I think I got everything down compared to the other remakes that just use Thwomps. It's not hard despite the clear rate unless you think SMW is hard.

Junior's Armada Raid
94E6-0000-00E7-71F0

And for an original level, it's a functional right-to-left auto-scroller. You ride your own ship through fleet of attacking boats on your way to Bowser Jrs main ship. Apparently, its somewhat hard. Only 7 clears.

Emergency Landing! Revisited
DA70-0000-00E7-50A0

My take on a vertical level going on down. It's an updated version of my 2nd level. Climb down a building to ground level as enemies get in your way.

Your stage made really lament that Mario Maker doesn't give us a choice in music. Still, love that remake despite dying just as much as I remembered.

I'm looking at your profile now. I've already played your campaigns like Goomba Revolution and Bowser's DOOM-Ship within my last few hundred plays, so I only have about 20 to tackle. I wish the game remembered more plays and stars given. It would make it a lot easier to keep track.

It keeps a list of courses you've given stars to.
