I'll put it this way, as a personal opinion rather than trying to act like it's subjective like a lot of people are right now: as someone who knows the ins and outs of the original Final Fantasy VII and was there since release alongside my older brother who took the reins first? I'm willing to give the Versus XIII style gameplay a shot. I liked a couple of Crisis Core's ideas, and when the story wasn't focusing on Angeal or Genesis but actually FFVII stuff, I was totally on-board but god did I hate that gameplay. The voice-acting needs some work but maybe it'll get better, who knows? The Bombing Mission remix was.. safe. It was a new recomposition for the game and trailer, but it just sounds like they went for orchestra, no extra touches.
Even if I find out they butchered FFVII, i'm still unfortunately going to play it. But it doesn't look terrible so far, plus this finally confirms that the remake isn't trying to be relatively 1:1 but rather do its own thing. Now I can only wait to see how they may alter things from there. And if they fuck it up.

I'm a big fan of the original (and was actually around to play it when it released, fuck you faggot tweens) and the Remake looks fine. People comparing it to XV, the XIII games, or the Versus XIII prototype are retarded. It's basically Crisis Core with character switching and minus the roulette wheel. It's still an ATB based system, except now you can move around while fighting and uncontrolled characters probably do their own thing. I think my only concern now are the maps potentially being linear and the story getting bogged down by Compilation stuff. But what we've been shown so far looks great.
