Is this game good? I'm level 10 and so far I'm enjoying it a lot more than diablo 3.
its pretty good. getting a nice update on the 11th, and a huge update around feburary. trading is awful because most of the community are jews, but if you have a small group of friends the games a blast. if you like ARPGS grim dawn is also a blast.
I started last week and have played 30 hours with a mate, just got into the third difficulty setting and it's getting rough as fuck.
New leagues are starting in a week though so there's no real point in playing right now though since you'll have to restart after that.

if you have been under a rock for the last few months, they announced a pretty cool expansion coming where you can specialize further with 6 special points into a specialization you can choose for your character.

They aren't released yet. They are planned for release in the expansion which is set for release in early 2016.
The skills are probably not even finalized yet, so I wouldn't really trust anything they say. They'll be play-tested and presumably balanced before release.

Play hardcore. It might seem daunting at first, but once you get over the initial hurdle, it's fun and tense as fuck. I think you have to really enjoy ARPG gameplay to actually get by just playing softcore
When death is possible around every corner in hardcore, you have a lot more fun playing.
Standard players seem to get bored of life and move on

I think it's the other way around. As intense as hardcore is, you absolutely need good gear to get past a lot of stuff in merciless, even some stuff in cruel.
And that means grinding and farming, which are the core of ARPG. If you don't dig on that then hardcore isn't for you.

-Access to more deadly maps and uber Atziri.
-Saturated economy, can suffer inflation depending on the league.
-Entertainment is derived from unlimited freedom to do what you want.
Comparing these two modes is apples and oranges.

PoE is a game full of false depth and artificial difficulty
It's a game for people who can't afford D3 or people who have gotten sick of D3. It isn't any better than D3, it's just there. It plays far worse, and looks far worse.
It technologically limits itself on purpose to create the feeling of depth. Prefer D3 over it. While D3 may be described as shallow, it's looks far better and plays a lot better.

i agree but it was the only thing i had parts to build. And its the highest dps build ive ever managed to produce. My split arrow crit duelist could never get any kinda resists to survive, my ice crash marauder would either 1 shot everything or get 1 shot himself. Facebreaker just worked. and it worked out pretty well with a 4link Darasso chest. All i needed to finalize the build was to 5 or 6 link that chest. now its busted and so is my wallet. wah wah wah.

the node system? yes one could argue that spending point in passive stats does not really change your character drastically in a gameplay way but there is more to the skill system than that.
