A game that takes a dead serious look at life and struggles during the zombie apocalypse.

But TLOU came and took care of that for me.

So now, it's simply a great, truly open world sengoku era game, with elements from Way of the Samurai, Tenchu, and a bit of Bushido Blade thrown in.

As a side note, I am working on a game, but it has nothing to do with either zombies or samurai.

Think Binding of Isaac except with exploration and Metroidvania concepts. Each seed though would have to consider what items are available and preroute obstacles you could clear immediately + those with certain items and ensure there was no dead ends.

Heh. I've posted this before but;
MMO
Low-fantasy
Airships, someone along the lines of the imperial ones from skies of arcadia.
Varrying sizes, each size up needs more players to operate properly.
Id like to see mechanics from eve in there with territorial control and if you lose your airship its fucking gone.

There would be proper on foot combat, some gunpower use but not tons. Mainly for floating isle and continent skirmish, but most importantly, boarding a ship.

Like a small skirmish ship could be single captain, but a dreadnought you would need a captain, navigator, a few gunners, an engineer, etc. I think you could fill the rest of the slots with npcs that you hire for crew.

I think magic could be worked in, but somewhat like SWG jedi, a long fucking task just to use it, so they would rare but could "enhance" a part of a ships system, some do some minor stuff in combat. Magic would be stronger the closer you get to the center of the map, weaker the farther you are.

Ideally, you would need to obtain resources and trade, so some rival npc factions could be a decent start. Near the center of the map would be a large foggy patch of no-mans land, where vision is limited, forcing very close range airship battles. Islands would shift in here from downtime to downtime, making them interesting on-foot dungeons to explore. Some big beasties to fight in an airship would be rad as fuck too.

I was working on it for a decent amount a while ago but my only tool was gamemaker and this was when there was a lot of shame in working with that. I should try again now that everyone seems to be fine with making gamemaker games as long as they turn out good.

The idea was born from the game "Lifeline". I wanted to make a similar concept. Aliens invade a space station and you are in the position of a person who for security reasons monitored all the going ons in the station through your computer. Instead of their crappy voice recognition system though, I would have you guide multiple people by giving them commands as if through an instant messenger system. Would have to warn them of threats, control functions of the station like doors, lights, ect. Could converse with characters, solve some puzzles based on their descriptions of whats in a room and stuff like that.

Unless you're out to make a template platformer or space ship shooter, there is minor amounts of programming to learn to really flesh out your idea beyond the built in functionality. That being said it is very minor compared to real programming and as long as your idea is realistic instead of some stupidly ambitious giant scale mess, it will make your job as a designer mostly just a matter of art assets and putting the time into design.

my dream game is a community focused mmo with lots of grind, procedurally generated monsters and equipment, and lots of systems in place to create drama between guilds/factions. ideally everyone should share the same city and different guilds would play different parts in the city's functions. like guild 1 would control the metal and magic jewels supplies, while guild 2 would control the metal weapon crafting market by having most of the high level metal weapon crafters in the city. then guild 1 and 2 could try to kill each other in a resource war (guild 1 can prevent guild 2 from getting raw materials for their crafting, but guild 2 can stop producing high level metal magic weapons for the city), or this situation would generate some drama that would end up bubbling up to drama between the factions of guild 1 and 2 and so on

It out in a basement and there were weird japanese horror game like monsters throughout. For some reason it felt like I had done it before and knew all the monsters mechanics. The only ones I remember were a manniquen like humanoid that seemed to be the generic enemy type, and a weird as fuck amorphous worm thing that disguised it's self as a trapped human. I eventually climbed a ladder up to the single roomed main floor and just walked out.
It turned out to just be a shack along a trail in the forest, and other players were outside fighting over shit. Woke up right after seeing them.

The dream's been kinda haunting me and now I cant stop thinking up ideas for it. Too bad I cant program

I've had several ideas floating around but right now I'd really like to just have a really cool werewolf game where you do werewolf things in an open-world where you're given a lot of freedom of action. Modded Skyrim is pretty much as close as it gets for me, but I think it'd be pretty cool to do one of those total conversion mod things when I learn more about fucking with the game that build on the kind of stuff I want to put in it. Dude. Make a smaller version of the game. Focus on making the game mechanic work, create the story, the aesthetic, establish the themes you want, maybe develop an interesting and original character that the story will be based around.

Then release the game. If people like it then you can use the popularity to recruit people, or possibly hire them with kickstarter money for a sequel that is the game you really want.

Do you have parent? Siblings? Even coworkers would work. Just have them critique it. If they say it's good then just believe them. You could even ask for advice here. Just be prepared for someone to roast you with a review. I let my buddy read the one story I actually planned on really doing something with and he basically told me to nuke it and start over. I'm friends with some writers, which is where the roast came from. He give his honest opinion, and it made me rethink some things. I'm telling you to visit draw threads. From what I hear certain boards like /co/, and /mlp/ have threads dedicated to improving your art. You could try befriending a trip or namefag there.

My dream game sounds pretty generic. But give it a read and rate it, please:

It's a 2D Metroid style game. Except the thing that makes it unique, is that you have a jet pack that allows you to fly. So the levels are quite open. I imagine the faster you fly, the more the screen would pull out, so you can see your surroundings. A lot of mechanics and gimmicks will be built around the propulsion of the jetpack.

There are enemies, but you can't kill them. You can only get around them, use non-lethal force(stun gun), or dispatch them by tricking them to fall for an environmental hazard.

There would of course be many items you find to give you new abilities, and upgrade your equipment. I want the focus to be the complexity in platforming, and executing skillful flights. With a world open enough to not only encourage exploration, but also capable of being sequence broken.
Of course, there would be a real sequence. With cutscenes and all the production that makes it feel like an adventure. But with enough knowledge, skill, and curiosity you can do all kinds of things out of order.

Graphics would be pixelart. The good kind.

that kind of contrast can get grating on the eyes though, and your character doesn't stand out from the background at all. recommend you try to put some color or at least gray tones to it.
