We literally have had that in SP vidya forever, in any PC SP at least you can cheat as much as you want, mod in whatever crazy bullshit, etc. Yet we somehow manage to have tons and tons of fun, and in fact a lot of us have used the power specifically to make things HARDER on us, not easier. Mods and fan alterations that add challenge have always been consistently done. A lot of people, even with god power over the setting, choose not to wreck things for themselves.

Green can be used in emergency situations. Say you find yourself in a fire. Or someone wants to start a fight. You get into a car wreck, and you need to escape, but you can't get out. Plane is going down. Anything you have a second to prepare for, you can get save yourself from.

What? You couldn't manually control the boomerang. Not every item needs to be useful in melee combat situations. The Beetle was great, because it allowed the player precision in executing remote tasks. Something the boomberang couldn't do. You couldn't fly the boomerang into a completely separate room, grab an item, then fly it back into your room, all while navigating an obstacle filled route.

No it's not. Because the hookshot pulls to you objects. Which the bow can't do. And the boomerang can't do. The hookshot is unique, in that it's chain tethers Link to the object. Where the boomerang is remote, and the bow is not only remote, but it doesn't even come back to you.
The hookshot allowed for unique actions, like hanging from ceilings and walls, and double hookshoting around. And combining with the heavy boots, in order to pull heavy objects down. Creative design, can utilize the hookshot in a way that the other objects can't do.
What I would like to see, is more objects that require a deal of wrangling, in order to pull. You know those enemies with masks, where you can hookshot their masks off? It would be cool if their masks didn't come off right away. But instead, you had to wrangle with them a bit before the mask came off.
Point being: I think it's more useful to think of creative ways to make the boomerang and beetle more distinct. Rather than homogenizing their uses.

I know both the hookshot and boomberang do this. But I was explaining that there are unique functions that the boomberang can't do, that the hookshot can. The functions that don't overlap are the reason why they're separate items. Because you can't tie a change to a boomerang, without fucking up it's usefulness as a throwing object. And you can't give the hookshot the ability to simply thwack and things and come back, because you need it to stick onto objects.

No it's not. The dungeons were always about puzzles. I don't see what's wrong with having this amazingly useful item that could unlock a lot of potentially amazing dungeon designs. And also having combat tools as well. I don't see why they have to be one and the same.

Forcing the player to aim weapons while z-targetting enemies slowed the combat to a crawl compared to previous games. I just think the beetle lacks depth when it's unusable in combat. The best items from the series had a mixture of combat, movement, and puzzle applications, sometimes all three like the deku leaf.
The beetle being physically slow and requiring the player to clear out any enemies else they'll get attacked slows the pacing down too. Zelda shouldn't be a fast paced game by any means, but it shouldn't be too slow either.

Notice how the hookshot became a claw in Twilight Princess. And the boomerang became the gale boomerang. That way the hooshot was more useful as a dual hook, with the chain to hang from ceilings. And the boomerang was more useful as the tool that grabs objects, and spins things around.

The beetle can actually be used against enemies if you're smart. Like, you can pick up bombs, and then drop them on enemy's heads from afar.

Look, sometimes the pace of action goes up and down, based on the environment, and the task you're required to overcome. And sometimes, there isn't a whole lot of actions. Sometimes, you just gotta do this thing to complete the puzzle. Beetle segments are just like that. It's really no slower than a block pushing puzzle, or a water segment, or many of the other puzzle segments.
I think you just don't like anything where you're not Link in tense immediate danger.
