I can't speak for everyone, but the whole campaign just seems like a mess. Shitty character design, compromised artistic theme, skateboarding dinosaur, guest characters that are much more popular than the main character, wouldn't have made it without the deadline extension, yada yada.

Honestly, after playing the demo, I liked the movement and platforming, it's very smooth, my problem is with the combat: why give you three moves if you only need the hardest-hitting one and the multi-hitting one anyway? What's different between the characters at the end of the day if not damage and speed? Why not using those physics to do a proper ARPG?

Since they are cribbing Valkyrie Profiles design pretty hard it will probably have to do with guarding enemies in the mid-late game
you need to either get behind the enemy or break their guard with many hits at once, so knowing which characters moves hit multi or move them around the field is important, then you switch the order the moves come out in so you can take enemies down in one round. You don't NEED to get that good unless you are on hard mode after Lezard's castle when the game catches up to player knowledge

The main takeaway is that these things are indicative of a transition period. It's basically growing pains as the industry accustoms itself to making characters that aren't grizzled bald beefcakes or wisecracking indiana jones types: they've found a new toy and they're going wild with it. Clumsily, at times, but it's how they learn. Give it a bit and we'll start getting characters with some nuance, and with personality traits other than I'M NOT YOUR USUAL PROTAGONIST.

Let's say there was a slavic character being introduced to this game, there is a choice between a Boba Yoga themed character, or a character based on Russian noble who was ethiopian.
Almost certianlly the Boba Yoga reference would be perfect. But that's not what LabZero is following, they're following the tumblr/brown pandering route.
So they'd pick the Ethiopian Russian noble.
That's the issue with half these characters, they're going out of their way to saturate the game with as many non-white characters as possible, even if it means taking a European culture and making it's theme character off a foreigner.

but that's a load of shit. Indivisible was getting mad dollars, but the devs decided to go with a model of paying for the full game before release, instead of having some of the profits pay for it. Lead artist drank the kool-aid and was on a panel with Wu. Lab Zero also changed some frames in Skullgirls to edit out panty shots for no apparent reason and made really uppity, indignant posts defending that with no explanation as to why other than the vague "our standards have evolved". Indivisible's art style looks flat and indistinct compared to that of Skullgirls as well. It didn't help that a game supposedly about Hindu culture and mysticism gave us a clusterfuck of characters and no real cohesion either, making it look less like an actual interest in Hindu stuff and more like a tacked-on varnish.
Add that together along with their office being located in California and it all points to L0 gradually losing their minds and falling into SJW-ism. and they actually picked up a bigger audience over the course of the campaign. /v/ was right that there wasn't a huge overlap between fighting game fans and rpg players, but the word still got out from fans to other people who were interested and the prototype legitimately gave them a high rate of retainment when people heard about it from game grumps or whatever and then came over to the site to try the prototype out and see if they liked it.
