So I'm working on a little realism mod for NV, gonna post about it in NV threads to get some suggestions.
Last time I asked for suggestion on weapon damage values, but fuck both /k/ and you guys are fucking useless so I did everything myself.
Anyways feel free to post some suggestion and whatever.
List of changes I've done/plan to make right now:
Weapon skill no longer modifies damage, only spread.
HP formula is changed to 1+10*END for all humans, no HP from levels.
Sneak attacks are just guaranteed crits, rather than vanilla double crits of death
Crits apply bleeding damage, each weapon has a bleeding damage equal to its normal damage in poison-like 1HP/sec form.
So if you get critically hit with a 9mm pistol which deals 13 damage, you will suffer 26 damage and additional 13 damage in next 13 seconds.
Bleed damage also bypasses armor (it's not a feature, I just can't make it work differently)
If the armor DT is equal or higher to the damage taken, you take no damage at all as opposed to vanilla 20%.
Balanced by making armor degrade and lose it's DT at much faster rate (Power Armor is an exception, now it feels like a real tank but you can still get one shot by crit .308 or .50 to the head, also it slows you down considerably), only high tier armors like combat armor etc. can make you resistant to anything.
Weapon condition increased, now affects spread and chance to jam on each shot, not only reloads
Carry weight formula is now 0+10*STR to encourage smart looting (best weight/value ratio like chems etc.) and smart equipment choices (What kind of weapon based on the weight and the ammo used, how much weapons, how much ammo, how much food/water, what kind of armor etc.)
The biggest change I want to make is to change pretty much every damage/DT value in the game on all armors and weapons, but fuck me if it's not a lot of work.
So far I changed the damage on all firearms, based on caliber (with slight variations, longer barrel-more velocity)

Giving it to the NCR is the worst possible choice.
Giving it to the whole region is perfect : The NCR has a secondary electrical supply so they stop caring about Helios. Westside and Freeside also get their share (If you give them full power it will be totally useless to them : Too much energy will go to waste), and no crazy fuck will try to get Archimedes back online.

Fun fact, a cut portion of NV includes power in Freeside cutting off after 10pm and coming back on in the morning.
This stops if you send the power to Freeside. This is referenced by Mr New Vegas on the radio in the current game, but the feature was left unimplemented.
I'm pretty sure one of those "New Vegas uncut" mods restores that though.

That carry weight formula is fucking retarded. An average joe with 5 STR is supposed to be able to only lug 50 lbs around before his speed gets reduced into crawl? Don't make me laugh. The best thing you could do is make the movement speed decrease gardually as the carry weight increases past the certain limit, though I really don't know how doable is that. Implementing a fatigue mechanic like arwen did wouldn't hurt too.

Wish I could mate, I hate that fucking system as much as you do, but it's beyond my shit modding skills.
I'm going to play with Project Nevada though, and it makes it so headshots bypass DT if head in unprotected.

That's not how I imagine it though.
If your armor has 10 DT and you get shot with a 13 damage shot, the bullet failed to penetrate and that 3 damage is impact.
Now if you have a 13 DT armor, it means your armor is so vastly superior that it's basically like getting cut with a razor while wearing a thick coat. Don't tell me you are even gonna feel it.
It's really flexible that way.
I'm not going crazy with this, pretty much nothing except for power armor will make you resistant to any rifle caliber bullet, and very few armors will make you resistant to even one or two pistol calibers.

If by "lug" you mean "run around indefinitely while being capable of jumps and combat".
I might up it just a little, I will think about it. Maybe to 15*STR, we will see.

I might try, but my modding skills don't really go beyond changing values in GECK.

I don't really want to make things too complex. It's going to be a simple mod, the main goal is to change the values because all the other mods are just lazy 100x damage modifier on head and such.

Karma in 1/2 was just a neat little tracker thing hid in one section of your character sheet, it just told you a little bit of extra info on your character. What actually mattered was your reputation. Same thing with NV

Yes, but it doesn't mean it's going to be powerful enough to substract 1 damage from a 10-100 HP pool. I can't make it lower and it's negligible.
It's like saying a 9mm fired at a tank has to deal at least some damage to the crew since they are connected to the tank, Yes they are connected and they will feel the impact of that round, but it's neglible. Same with the power armor.

Did you read my post?
I don't intend to make anything (save for power armor) resistant to any rifle caliber.
As an example, modern millitary plates are capable of taking rifle calibers, while also being able to take weaker pistol calibers and shrapnel with relative ease.
And so the combat armor might be virtually resistant to things like .22 and 9mm (as lond as the plate is ok), but 5mm or 5.56 is still going to fuck you up a little.

Randall Clarks story didn't make this decison easier either- one could say he would want the Sorrows to defend themselves and cared about Zion, but others might say he cared about them more than Zion and it's not worth it.
But White Legs man, they are fucking different. They are not your usual enemy at war, who fights just because he was given orders and doesn't really want to.
They are fucking trash, they don't want do anything themselves. They don't want to settle and grow crops/hunt because it's so much fucking easier to just steal it all, and now they are trying to impress the Legion and get even more benefits.
And even Legion sees them as trash. Killing them is a right choice.

Modern hard armor is more than capable of dispersing the energy well enough to take smaller calibers at ease. Soft armor not so much, but it's a diffferent story.

Yeah that was what we were talking about though. They removed the servos in the armor so that the soldiers wearing it are lugging around 100+ lbs of metal.
It doesn't require special training but the weight would make it totally impractical in a battle. You'd be exhausted almost right away and adding a minigun atop that would be worse. That's why the idea was thrown out that the armor is meant for garrison/sentry duty.

Before I get to novac I bump my guns to around 50~, and then once I am deep onto the strip it gets bumped to 75.
