I felt that too, it took me one sitting to ''git gud'' and was surprised because each round I thought I was doing mediocre. Reached the first prestige early the next day. I get 1st place maybe 8/10 rounds easily now.
I thought there were more abilities or whatever to unlock but it felt limited. I love the burn cards though. I really wanted a single player campaign, especially after playing those desert and forest maps with the dragon motherfuckers, and those huuuuge dino ones.

If you want to compare it to 64, don't. It plays much more like Halo with a handful of Arwing levels. 3/10 of the missions are arwing only. Most are on foot 3rd person shooter. The sandbox levels will feel empty because they were more designed for a multiplayer mode. Controls on foot and landmaster are dated and akward. Otherwise, not too bad a game. Still worth playing the 10 level story mode.

Anon, it was rushed to hell, and probably would have been a much bigger and better game otherwise.
There's a reason the game only has 10 levels (compared with Star Fox and Star Fox 64 having something like 20 levels and 17 levels, respectively), no branching paths, and only 3 levels that are forward scrolling Arwing levels with the rest being multiplayer maps with generic enemies scattered about and little thought put into their placement, and it's because the game was originally meant to be multiplayer only and the single player was cobbled together at the last minute.
Hell, the multiplayer mode has significantly more levels than the single player. That should tell you all you need to know.

I really like the way you approached Dead Island. Not typical /v/ overhyped autismo shit, so if you enjoyed Dead Island for what it was, you'll really like Dying Light.
Mirror's Edge style parkour, although it's not as fluid at the beginning, it's something you level up. But you get to Mirror's Edge level shit pretty quick.
Night time is fucking spooky, booting it around trying not to get slaughtered. At the start, you'll probably avoid night time because you're a little weak, but later in the game you'll learn to love it. I play exclusively at night now because it's the funnest way to play.
It's worth 20 bucks, that's for sure. You're looking to easily get 30 or 40 hours if you're solo, way way fucking more if you're with mates. There's also a neat (if not played enough) Dark Souls style invasion system.
When you start the game you're asked if you want it enabled or not. If you do, at night when you're around zipping around, there's a chance someone will invade your game as a very powerful, free-running zombie. It's a really fucking fun time.
Co-Op is a blast too.

It's pretty hard to fuck up a racing game, especially with Disney. Played Cars 2 purely for the easy plat and it was still pretty fun. Even their shovelware tie-in games are pretty good. Yeah.
It's actually a pretty cool game. Actually does the idea of a "movie game" right. A bit rough around the edges, but for its age? It's fucking amazing that it holds up as well as it does. The dev team really knew what they were doing.
Also, it's hilarious how the final boss, who is just some strong dude with a gun, has more life than the gigantic mechanical monsters you fought the entire game. He was one of, if not THE, first examples of stuff like 200.0% HP.
Even funnier is the fact that you take off like 100,000 life with each attack you deal to him, which is more life than some bosses even had.
Also, tying your life meter to how kickass you are at the game may not have been one of the best ideas ever, but it's damn cool in execution.
