I'm a different Anon, and I honestly couldn't care less about the fanservice aspect of the game. The biggest thing I'd be eager for is a set story as well as new characters they'll come up with.
The mechanics, soundtrack, and potential story are my favorite things about this game. Honestly, they could get rid of the whole fanservice aspect and I'd still love the game.

i only backed SKullgirls because it was a Marvel VS Capcom clone and i liked MvC back in the day.

Skullgilrs2 would have been better than a sub par VP clone with wacky and out of place character design and environment.

To be fair it's just being smart, have you seen what happens to cocky game devs nowadays? Being humble and out of the public's eye is the best thing you can do.
I quite enjoyed the prototype, the art style is nice, animations are pretty cool too but the gameplay itself, other than the platforming, is kind of messy.
Like trying to figure out which of your characters the enemies is attacking is not clear at all so you pretty much have to block with all of them every time which drains your meter faster.
I got as far as that Egyptian looking boss thing but because of the blocking thing I couldn't get off enough special attacks to beat it.
And where's the healing? This may be my fault for missing it but as far as I could tell, your health is restored by what remains of your meter after battle, not great for long battles where you need to heal halfway through. But again, I'm not sure if it does heal you every turn with what you don't use of your meter.
If they can fix that then I'll probably buy it in a sale.

All characters are cliches, battle system looked interesting and original but I was expecting more original ways to use the "Gradius mode" in boss battles.
Some characters are so cliches that are annoying, I know that the creator intentions but I think he exaggerated in some characters like Alphys.
