Any puppetfags around? Every time I start up the program and get to the title screen it keeps looping back to loading and I can't get anywhere. I've tried redownloading a prepatched version, downloading a fresh Jap copy and patching it, running with Locale Emulator, running in compatibility mode, etc and nothing works. I'm kinda stumped, I was playing it just fine before with no issues.

I'm a casual shmup fan but I'll give my reasons for liking them. I never bother with 1cc or trying to get crazy high scores or anything like that. also not a crazy huge fan of touhou, although the few games I've played have been okay

it's satisfying as fuck seeing tons of shit blow up in front of you
along with that it's also satisfying having tons of stars or whatever the game uses fly into you as your score increases
shmups tend to be pretty simple, so they often have good presentation. not just the soundtracks, but also the art direction. obviously there are tons of copy cat nondescript military/space ship shmups out there, but I'm not a fan of those. I loved experiencing mushihimesama futari and sine mora for the first time because of how awesome the bosses were
and the big thing for me is how intense they get. to be good at a shmup you have to turn off your brain and rely on your reflexes and adrenaline. I also tend to like fast bullets more than slow and dense patterns
nothing feels better than thinking all is lost yet somehow pulling through without fully realizing how you succeeded

Scrolls of Frolicking Animals? To capture it i always focus in the barrages in order, like first i go up and dodge the birds, then i go down and dodge the dog things , then comes the hardest part because at the time the frogs explode usually the birds and dogs spawn again, so you have to check for a pot where there are less frog bullets and dodge the patterns in order again.
For Wild Deserted Island is the same, going by order. However you can't concentrate only in the pattern you are on, you have todge and check for openings in the incoming pattern so you don't get trapped.I feel that dodging in the lower part of the screen is easier. Also be careful with the hitbox of the bullets because they are kind of wonky

Is it just me or is the only reason Ten Desires gets such a bad rap due to 99% of players only playing on Normal? TD has a piss easy normal difficulty, but Hard and Lunatic are pretty average in terms of difficulty. I'd put them on par with EoSD, PCB, IN, or MoF for example. Yoshika, Seiga, and Mamizou all have interesting danmaku, and the scoring system works well with collecting resources for survival. Art wise it has ZUN's best character portraits and the most beautiful border of any of the games. Night Sakura, Desire Drive, Starry Sky of Small Desires, True Administrator, and Futatsuiwa from Sado are all great tracks too.

Wow, Remilia was... really easy, actually. I mean, all my puppets are mid 30s, but I only lost 2 throughout the whole fight. They're pretty much all sweepers but she didn't 1-shot any of them, unlike Marisa who one-shot almost my whole team. I only beat the Marisa fight because of a lucky crit.

Just pick a player's handbook of DnD if you want details, but essentially, it's dividing characters in 9 alignements.
Evil characters mostly sacrifice other's well being for theirs, good characters do the opposite. The other two are about methods: Lawful characters live by a set of values, not necessarily the same as society, Chaotic characters just do whatever seems like the best course of action. You can be neutral in any of them as well, which is where most would fall naturally.
Either way, they're very rough definitions, so your character can still end up doing anything, which is why people constantly argue about those. (Their biggest importance is to determine whether some spells work on them or some items work, such as detect evil and the like)
