Thanks, I just looked those up. They seem to just compare data packs vs. no data packs though, not disc+dl vs. digital.
I'm assuming the full digital will still be just a tiny bit faster than disc + data packs. That said, the difference between data pack and no data pack seems to be like a 30~40% speed difference. I can't imagine solely digital would eke out that much more of an increase.
I think I'll just go for the disc. I like having the box, as silly as it is. Thanks for the information.

Finally beat Chronicles and I'm a bit underwhelmed with the ending.Zanza just wants a cycle of rebirth and destruction so he'll always be needed / won't be forgotten, but he fucked up by making Homs, High Entia, etc. sentient. But why were he and Myneth reborn as giants when the universe was rebooted and why did they immediately start beating the shit out of each other? I also feel like Dickson's motivations weren't clear and he just served Zanza because reasons.

It could be because of AoE's, spike damage, enemies that CAN'T be engaged in Melee ie giant flying bosses in areas where skells can't go, melee characters using ranged from far away until enemies get close for extra damage. I mean there could be more reasons too

Perhaps a dumb question but how much space do you get for holding items? In XC there were so many fucking random items to pick up and use for various quests, and a bunch of just useless ones, that you'd have to sell loads of them all the time. Do you just have infinite item space in XCX so this doesn't become an issue?
It may seem like a minor thing but I know for sure I ended up selling a bunch of items that weren't flagged as quest specific in XC only to find out later that oops they are tied to some sort of quest.

How to know if XCX is right for you?
You are presented with a world 5x bigger than Witcher 3 and filled with discovery in each and every cranny.
In order to progress the story you need to get to level 30, and you are level 15.
XCX is right or you if you see that as:

I selected and downloaded all 4 XCX data packs, it was a 10gb download and the data size in my Wii U storage appears to be 10gb. Is this correct? Is this all the data packs? When I added up their sizes individually it was 15gb+, so I just want to make sure I've got all the content in anticipation of the games' launch.

Basically read the manual. Most reviewers say that even if you don't understand things right away you will over time. And the game doesn't punish you for not knowing how to do things at the start.

XC had these too. Seem the best thing to do is just don't pick them up unless you have the right number of items. Sadly seem some affinity missions need gathering too and once you start one you are locked into it until you finish it. I think someone who has the Japanese build says there's online things you can do to have it so it's easier to get items but I'm not 100% sure.

Tend to be survey % of Mira or do quests in New LA. Basically Takahashi wanted you to spend 90% just doing everything else around Mira than when you feel you are ready for more story do it.

Yep, Takahashi failed to improve them, but thankfully you don't have to take them, you can just turn in items to complete them on the spot which is very helpful. Not that it excuses the issue, but its better than nothing I say.
Just like Souls games, they're made for more core gamers, which both directors have said when asked and that is perfectly okay. Not everything is made for everyone, that is a fact of life and no game should be given negative points for it. If you don't like it, don't play them or even review them if you can't handle RPGs with deeper mechanics.

Yeah you can control another party member and but your PC on AI behavior. The only real party limitation is that player-controlled or not, your PC has to be in the party. Also Elma and possibly Lin for story missions.
Well, Lao may or may not also be required at some point. One of the soundtrack titles implies that he might play some role in the story(to put it lightly), if I'm interpreting the engrish correctly.

You can't really, fetch quests are either fun for people who like exploring or not.
The only thing he can do is put details in the mission description and/or highlight the area on the map where they can be found like a circle or highlight the crystals in the world with a different color to show that its an item you need for a quest you activated.

This really isn't true in the strict sense, a character can eventually (in the 40-50 level range) start specializing in a combat style that works for the player.
In these the choices are between:
- Mixed Combat Focus (Melee & Ranged)
- Melee Combat Focus
- Ranged Combat Focus
- Support (Melee & Ranged)
- Control & Debuff (Ranged)
As an example, it's possible to build a Shield Trooper that focuses way more on Ranged Thermal Damage, than simply toppling enemies, you can in these cases grab Knife skills from the Drifter class like Assault Hammer, which actually switch your melee weapon out and into a ranged weapon after the animation and topples the foe.
Generally, you have melee / ranged options as a form of utility and "mixed" combat focus generally works more on class builds like Full Metal Jaguars, which have insane mobility and positionals in both melee and ranged options.

Duelist is a beast with proper gear, insane amounts of topple and stuns. Easiest class to go heavy melee DPS and still have a fun combat experience, plus Samurai Soul freaking rules. AoE damage on all auto-attacks? Yes please!

FMJ:s are freaking amazing in the hands of a skilled player, you have sick amounts of mobility, positionals deal amazing damage and Sliding Slinger can be used to dodge a lot of stuff.

Psycorruptors are very tricky to do right, but if you can get your synergy to work with the rest of your team, you'll be puking purple arts on enemies at a very scary rate and once you get Pathogen Blast, there's no brakes on the rape train.

Funny enough, Galactic Knights have some excellent ranged and melee options, in that they have excellent DPS, provided either you or your party provides auras and general support. Galactic Knights eat a metric ton of TP though, so gotta be prepared to have a good sense of timing and what to spend TP on.

Lance / Sniper is unlocked from Commando line (much like FMJ). as Partisan Eagle (and eventually Astral Crusader) The forte of the line (in general terms) is Lightining Damage and providing Ranged/Melee DPS / Support.
If you wish to play the class like a Final Fantasy "Dragoon" (in that melee is your focus), it's a good idea to pick up a few auras and from the Striker line (Offensive Stance, Defensive Stance and Power Dive are great for melee attackers) Other than that, the Lance has great reach in most of its attacks (large cones with a lot of reach) and it's the only line in the entire game that provides a Physical Res down on a melee art with such a short cooldown.
Ranged options with sniper are almost limitless and the weapon has the highest range out of anything in the game, if you're playing with ranged combat as your focus, it's very hard to get hit by PbAoE attacks and Sidewinder deals hilarious damage once you learn to position yourself properly.

Reclaimers (in terms of combat drops) usually get slightly better drops, but most often than not they don't really provide any tangible boost to Tyrant drops (in that they don't increase part drop amounts or other material drops), occasionally you might get a nice piece of gear or two, but it's luck of the draw.
Reclaimers biggest trump is the "treasure points" you can find in the wilds and open by tapping the A button, high level Reclaimers can find some really neat gems from the high level of these. Generally opening them needs a certain "skill" level in salvaging different types of things (Mechanical, Biological etc...)

You have amazing amounts of leeway in weapon and armor customization, much moreso than in the original (if you've ever played it).
Mostly you can customize weaponry and armor with slots especially in ways to suit your playstyle, but the weapon and arms manufacturers in NLA gain "experience" by you equipping their items and some manufacturers specialize more in certain aspects of stats or character types than others.
Sakurabai Industries is a good example of a company that mostly builds armor focused on melee types, with a variety of effects usually built in to help melee and it's literally a company that focuses on building armor that would be fitting for a Space Marine.
As for classing and being afraid to branch out a bit, don't be. You can switch classes anytime you want and generally you rank up pretty quick in the first branch of choices, so if you see auras, support arts and arts that aren't tied to weaponry (orange and yellow), you can pick up a lot of versatility by branching out. It never hurts your character, if that's what you're asking.

The game gives you the capability to switch your division pretty much whenever you want to level a new one, but if you enjoy hunting for loot Reclaimers is the way to go.
I picked Harriers myself and considering i switched a couple of times, the benefits of all divisions generally are only there to fit your playstyle.
You like beating the stuffing out of baddies and get rewarded with XP for your division in it? Pick something like Harriers.
Like the exploration, Pathfinders, Prospectors etc are awesome.
Like getting a bit of extra loot and faster recovery of all that salvageable stuff from wreckages and petrified alien bee nests? Then just go Reclaimers.
None of the benefits really start to shine over the others and are generally there to just reinforce what you like to do in the game, if Reclaimers would just give everyone the best drops in the game and be somewhat special in that sense, there would be no point picking the other divisions.

Yeah, in most sense PbAoE has a certain range which can be ran out of (if youre quick enough), ranged attacks usually hit (regardless of range, projectiles follow you to the ends of the earth) or then they completely miss even though the animation might hit your model, melee attacks usually hit only a single person, unless it's a cleave and those can be dodged by simply not standing in it.
Sliding Slinger is cool in that even if you're not facing the enemy, you can slide into the direction you want (without doing damage, of course) and quickly avoid a lot of bad stuff. Same goes for Galactic Knight's Shooting Star, which reaches even further.

Mediators have a somewhat increased amount of gossip available earlier than usual in the game. No, you can mix and match to your hearts content or switch into a division that suits your needs for a certain combat style eventually.
Generally speaking, a lot of the choices youve made earlier on don't have as much impact in late-game, as your diversity in both arts, skills and division choices start branching out more to suit your needs.
What the divisions do is lay down the "path" for you to that goal and give you a bit of a different experience during leveling, depending on which one you pick.
Nothing forces you to stick to a single one, but it helps to have one division high level approaching end game, than have a whole bunch barely leveled.

Yes, all divisions have a slight passive boost to some of your abilities (be it then TP gain, or in the case of Interceptors ranged damage etc etc.)
This isn't the main focus of the divisions however, the main focus is the activities they enable for the playstyles in question. Mediators will spend a lot of time in doing side quests and will get aptly rewarded for doing so, while interceptors might just stay in the wilderness, killing Suid piglets for some BLADE side-mission and get the same benefits, while you might be running after someone's lost cat or delivering pizza and getting just as well rewarded.
Dont focus on the passives too much, they will mostly only matter if you really want to squeeze some extra out of some stat in the end-game.

All combat generally gives out some division points (more to divisions focused on combat), but the description for Reclaimers is a bit sketchy. Generally the "treasure boxes" occasionally keep popping up (or in some cases respawning) after certain periods and generally the world really never truly runs out of them and some of the high level ones can hold some pretty sick gear.
Reclaimers in a nutshell thus spend a lot of time salvaging. Cauldros has some mechanical salvage that i've gotten some pretty nice gear out of and my Reclaimer rank is nowhere near someone who might have taken it through the entire game, so it most likely wont hurt to try out what you can gain on the long run.

Yeah, most of the time you would want to spend overdrive in casting arts that have similar colours, which means that characters that are largely focused on pure DPS arts will have the highest DPS in overdrive while more supportive characters or debuffers might be able to squeeze out a nice combo of buffs/debuffs)
Other than that, the colours also play into the Soul Voice system, when a party member calls for something, like say an Aura, if you cast it in time, you get health and a bit of a boosted effect on it, depending on your Soul Voice settings, it's a pretty deep system but once you start tinkering with it, it will get easier to understand.

Curators generally need to also focus on collectibles (if you don't know how this works, look it up how it worked in original Xenoblade), which largely means they get some bonuses to adding collectibles to a "lucky slot".
This however also means that a lot of your XP into division is also tied to side-quests that involve collectibles, or completing segments of your collectopedia. Sure, you might get XP from other elements too (Tyrant slaying is one), but that's largely because Curators are more of an offshoot of Pathfinders in that they don't focus as much on Probes and landmark discoveries.

Xenoblade Chronicle's combat wasn't that similar to an MMO outside of the whole "Your character is constantly doing autoattacks and skills have cooldowns". Rather than doing rotations you're focusing a lot more of using moves at tactically important times (e.g taking advantage of location based weaknesses, sort of like monk and drg in FFXIV but way more common), or inflicting status effects, or setting up combos with your team, etc. FFXII without gambits is the closest comparison.

Which really grew on me, after i spent hours upon hours of fighting god knows what kind of mechanoid monstrosities, this song just kept on getting better and better.

I think this is what trips people up about Xenoblade's combat at first glance. It looks like muh single player mmo where you just spam skills and wait for your cooldowns to go back up.
But there's a surprising amount of strategy involved in positioning, timing of arts, which arts to use, etc. Unfortunately you'd have to play the game to understand that.
