Should I wait for the next sale, which apparently is a couple of weeks away or should I buy some games now?
>>
>>318486981
Do it like I do, only buy the games I'm really going to play first. The rest can wait.

Though chances are, most of them will be discounted at the same rate, save for a select few.
>>
what are some good games for a poor nigger laptop gamer

I like RPGs, I like platformers, I like action games

I can run "modern" games with shit graphics like new vegas but I have to butcher the hell out of the graphics and resolution
>>
>>318485583
I don't think the deals are on par with flash/daily deals, though it's only the autumn sale, so we'll have to wait and see what the winter sale is like. I do miss the looking forward to checking the store each day in anticipation of what the new daily deals were. I also felt like that anticipation helped hype up the sale and made it more "fun."

I was a massive faggot and bought Life is Strange. I actually think the gameplay mechanics are better and more satisfying in comparison to the Walking Dead, which I also enjoyed.

Obligatory personal niche recommendations (1/2):

Runestone Keeper — great rougelite / minesweeper game. Looks simple at first, but has pretty deep gameplay in it. My personal favourite.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/339400

Desktop Dungeons — coffee brake rougelike with puzzle elements and huge replayability.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/226620

Tales of Maj'Eyal — the best rougelike on the market. Simple graphics, and almost limitless potential for hours to spend in it. Plus ingame chat with pleasant community always willing to help.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/259680

Battle Brothers — medieval fantasy turn-based RPG / RTS with surprisingly deep gameplay, fantastic atmosphere and promises of it being even better game after EA is over. The best turnbased game I played in 10 years.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/365360

The Talos Principle — first person puzzle game made by devs of Serious Sam. Rich and interesting challenges with deep story and beautiful world.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/257510

Antichamber — First-person puzzle that doesn't play like Portal 2 at all. It's a mind-bending game, that makes you through away preconceptions and prior experience playing videogames and think differently.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/219890

Lovely Planet — Super Meat Boy in first person with colorful world and VERY challenging levels. Speed run game.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/298600

Snakebird — surprisingly hard but neat puzzle game. Easy buy for those who want both challenging and clever experience.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/357300

Eldritch — first person action inspired by rougelikes and Lovecraft. It's $1.5
http://store.steampowered.com/app/252630

Teleglitch — Quake II-esque world with top-down perspective and one life.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/234390

The Fall — platformer / puzzle / adventure with good story and dialogs. Rather short.
http://steamcommunity.com/app/290770
>>
>>318488069
Obligatory personal niche recommendations (2/2):

Hexcells — neat little variation on minesweeper. Relaxing music and enough levels to keep you busy for a few evenings.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/265890

Infested Planet — take control of a squad responsible of purging huge amount of xenos in a top-down realtime strategy. Has this Aliens / WH40k vibe. Really good game made by a single guy.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/204530

Jets'n'Guns — absolutely fantastic and rad SHMUP with ridiculous number of levels, enemies, Jets and GUNS. Shoot tomato, or machinegun that utilizes clones of superman as ammunition. Fucking GORGEOUS soundtrack by cult power-metal group Machinae Supremacy.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/262260

Shadowgate — really well done remake of an old NES adventure game. Just right game to spend dull autumn evenings in almost pen-n-paper world. Good experience for those who love the genre.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/294440

Silent Storm — still relevant RPG / TBS made by Russians, set in the WWII / post-WWII world. More than solid, — the best turn based system I've ever seen in any game. If you're shooting after running be prepared to spend more AP. Full and total destruction of almost anything you can find on levels. Rare game to have Axis campaign.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/254960

Chaser — dated, but still visually good FPS with pretty bad level design (it's really easy to get lost), but HUGE FUCKING LENGTH of campaign and surprisingly good story / gunplay. Music adds to already great cyberpunk atmosphere.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/39670

Duck Game — it's a game. About Ducks. Imagine Smash! with ducks and lots of different weapons, destructible environment, and dedicated QUACK button. Must have for parties.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/312530

Hammerwatch — probably the best Gauntlet inspired game that ever came out.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/239070

Overall in favor.. On one hand less thrill, on the other less hustle.
>>

Rogue Legacy

Platformer where you you level up when you die and you get random characters with random traits that affect gameplay/visuals/audio. Also the world layout changes everytime you die.

Pretty much a grindfest but I'm still playing it with 48 hours logged if that tells you something. It's also $3 or something 'cause of the sale.
>>
>>318487515

Have you played any Shadowrun vidya games by any chance, anon? They're bretty good; I suggest Dragonfall.

So here's what I'm considering,
>Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide
>The Talos Principle
>Pillars of Eternity
>Styx: Master of Shadows
Any mistakes?
>>
>>318489907
I really can't recommend Styx. I tried to like it, twice, but it's dull and uninteresting, there's nothing to like about, except the protagonist being a goblin. It reminds me of the games of PS2 era, in the bad way, if you know what I mean. And stealth is just rubbish.
>>
I've been thinking of Catacomb Kids. Does it have enough content to justify the purchase? I don't have anything against EA, but the last one I bough, Vagante, turned out to be rather empty.
>>
>>318489907
>Vermintide
Solid game, up to a good 80 hours or so now and not slowing down. Gets a bit repetitive I guess but it's damn fun trying to seek out new shortcuts and exploits once you get up to the higher difficulties.
>>
>>318485583
I feel no incentive to buy anything.
>>
>>318489907
>Any mistakes?
What games do you despise and why, so we can see correlations.

>>318490265
Counter oppinion:
Yeah, the stealth isn't great, but its closer to Dishonored than MGS. Git gud with the teleporting and invisible abilities and it becomes loads of fun, if not kinda janky. Worth the $5 or however much its going for.

Man this thread is slow, but I need to know, does anyone know if Infinifactory is any good? Looks kinda like Tekkit Minecraft (but with actual art direction) crossed with SpaceChem, a neat concept but I've heard nothing about it so considerably skeptic.

Otherwise what's better, Tropico 4 or 5?
>>
>>318489907
PoE is good, but not great.
Best way i can put the game is that you get interested in something, only for it to immediately be forgotten, repeat for every area/quest/NPC.
Combat is mechanically fun, but the game rarely makes you work for it. The best part of the game is combat only though, the Endless Paths show how the system can really work.
>>
Reflex? What do you guys think? I'm on edge, I either get this or castle in the darkness or some other platformer. I really loved quake and this is like dream come true, it's just that it is early access which I try to avoid, It looks so promising tho.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxnwax7jzYs
It's really smooth and polished. Try it out! Worst case scenario, you aren't feeling it and you can refund it.

Mechanically I think it's fantastic, I just worry that it won't get a large enough following.

RL is a lot of fun. Especially when you realize you're in the year 3010, and you're hoping a dwarf with dyslexia is going to be your champion.

Shadowun Dragonfall was the height of the recent Shadowrun resurgence. The story is god-tier. The director's cut adds a bit more polish to an already great game.

Don't bother with Hong Kong........

Oh it's fucking rad, dude. Spent 40 hours with this thing, and just cut through the half of the game. It's probably the best CRPG I played since... I don't know, Arcanum? It's charmin, funny, with a pretty vast world to explore. And it's actually coop, not solo + 1.
>>
>>318494865

>>
>>318494975

It's a great game. Not knocking it. I was hoping for another Shadowrun. Got sick of playing the SNES and Genesis versions to death.

IMO, the ending just lacked. It seemed it was hyped up to something, then it just fizzled off.

>>
Is Brutal Legend worth it for someone who's not particularly into metal?
>>
>>318498141

RE:6 is a fun game.

Just got a lot of shit reviews at first from the ancient butthurt neckbeards that keep dreaming of shitty controls, and shitty camera angles.

They fixed the broken AI partner system in 5, and actually gave you the ability to dodge. Some characters even do special moves with certain weapons.

Why that game was rated so bad, is beyond me.
>>
>>318499045
don't know if u care but TB said its worth it if u like metal, don't remember many faults

there are some rts esque? levels at the end of the game if TB liked im considering it

Burger burger burger.
>>
>>318485583
Doesn't matter. I haven't really bought much games in like 4 years. The ones I do want, I end up buying either near release or it's first week[end] sale that ends up happening in 3 months.

Other than that, it stops the occasional one or two impulse buys per sale.

>>
>>318488069
>Teleglitch
I got this in a bundle at some point and played it for a while. Never really got into it, mostly because of the random item spawns. It was so easy to run out of ammo or never find anything useful early, which pretty much hamstrung you going forward. Is it still the same today as when I played it 1-2 year ago?
>>
What about Elite: Dangerous? It's 12€ only and looks relaxing.

But the semimultiplayer thing is strange... and all of the space stations are the same?

You mentioning MP indicates that you didn't hear about the game at all, since there's no MP in it. It's one of the best singleplayers FPS that came out in recent years, and for that price it's a steal. If you want FPS, then this is the one.

>>
>>318501345
Yes, it's the same game. It might be not for everyone, but it's a fine game nonetheless.
>>
>>318502348
I like it in spirit, but I hated how dependent it was on early items. Might go back and try it again at some point - maybe I'll have more fun when I know what's coming.
>>
>>318501345
It gets intense as fuck in the later levels
To save ammo just melee attack most things in level 1 and explore everything, you should have 3-4 weapons and a good amount of ammo by level 2.

Generally I think the locations of items are random, but what you can find on any given sector is mostly fixed. Just like every sector has a random layout, but with consistent features.

>>318502330

I agree, the whole hype for the sale is gone after the first day.

I understand they have to make the system somewhat idiot proof because people still haven't realized how Steam Sales work half a decade later and thus would have to deal with tens of thousands refunds because people bought games that weren't on sale and then refund them when it actually goes on sale

Just hope this was a temporary step back and the winter sale will have a better system with entertaining deals

Makes me sad

Makes everything more boring, but makes you focus on hidden gems that you probably look over on regular sales.
I prefer how it is now because it makes everything easier. The only problem is that most sales seems to be just ok, instead of great.

I enjoyed it at fullprice. Be aware it favours Nvidia over AMD.

Not perfect though but neither was the first Assassins Creed then the sequel came out and it was GOAT.

I hunt down all degenerates. It's fun.

Its even shown in Black Flag when the Templar boss goes to Chicago and in Watch Dogs you can find his corpse in an alleyway and the tag "Killed by Assassins".

It's even mentioned in Rogue where she says the boss went missing when he arrived in Chicago and he hasn't been located yet and the higher ups in Abstergo Entertainment are getting panicked.

>Watchdogs

I have no problems giving studios 50€ for a new game but out of spite I buy all EA and Ubisoft games from the grey market so they never see the money and grabbed Watchdogs Deluxe for ridiculous 1.45€ at some point

The world is pretty boring and has no love put into it, it's just filled with tons of repetitive objectives that are exactly the same every time and he whole hacking thing is just a gimmick that gets tedious an hour in

Combat vise it's your average horrible cover based shooter, most of the characters in the story are illogical and there's tons of bullshit and plot holes going on

Personally couldn't stand it for more than 2 hours and felt remorse for spending 1.45€ on it

It's just a hyped up cash grab with nothing to it trying to get the GTA audience
