I'd hope for your sake that it actually is a good game. All I've seen of the game suggests that they're going for quantity over quality. They relied like a motherfucker on guest characters to be mini-pushes. That means people care less about their characters and more about the fact that Shovel Knight, Red, and Shantae are in it.
That doesn't bode well for a game that wants to pride itself on its characters. I hope the concept art is just that, concept art, and that they improve character designs to make sure all of them are more interesting than their initial looks. They're going to have just as much work cut out for them on the rest of the game as they are on making people like more than a few characters. Most of the time it seems like people here will own up to liking maybe three designs out of god knows how many they have right now.
I hate that you made me go check the page. Anyways, if Inafune could weasel his way out of a failed crowdfunder, these guys will probably do the same.

I think it's a bit odd that they allowed an extension but whatever, now out of their desperate plays for funding they've saddled themselves with a ton of new guest characters to add. I'm sure if it hadn't reached the goal by some small amount either a company would've backed them the last bit or they would've gotten another extension.
What I dont like about crowdfunding is the premise that if a game does get funded, developers aren't really obligated to put forth as substantial an effort to complete a quality game because theres no risk if they don't at that point.
They can churn out a game that would require the minimal ammount of their budget to give to their supporters because nearly everything else is profit aside from what needs to be paid to a co-producer, which is usually small enough to easily get made in the first week of sales, where quality isn't fully analyzed.
They can't possibly go into debt or go bankrupt, the worse case scenario being they don't get funded and even then there's no risk.
So a company could effectively make a gigantic blowout profit at little to no risk and make a game far worse than what was expected of it and not have to face negative consequence, aside from maybe bad PR, which eventually turns into good PR.
I think this kind of thinking is called cynicism.
