In my opinion the battle system was always fun.
The way it looked and felt to just get those styling moves off on enemies was great.
Let's say I wanna make sort of a PM clone game, with combat based on TTYD meets the AP system from FF9 combined with the BP system, what kind of partners would you like to see, and what abilities do you want?
So far I have a sorta white mage who's field ability is to grow dying plants into platforms as the first partner, with the protag actually having the game's tattle.

I guess I could throw some other ideas that I've had on the table if it'll get anyone interested, but none of them are really set in stone like Tabitha the previously mentioned white mage or Lindell the protag.
There's the Drake idea, one of many of the resident beastmen, a dragonlike humanoid who breathes fire to take out flammable objects and stuff of the like
The Stealth idea, the sneaky guy who kinda does Bow/Vivi's hiding thing on the field
and Slice, which is sort of the "Break shit in the way" that mario's hammer normally does.
