My girlfriend is so hyped for this game and everytime she brings it up I just go "eh it looks good. I hope it gets made", but she says I'm acting weird because I just don't care about it.
Frankly I don't care for it myself. I think the character design sucks- which matters to me in a character-driven game like an RPG- even if the gameplay is pretty good. It's pretty disappointing as a follow-up to Skullgirls.
I mainly just like to laugh at people who invest so much of themselves into something they didn't even help create besides throwing some money at it.

It's not hate, it's disappointment. Here comes along a legitimately good game but it's bogged down by the fact that asked for WAY too much and that it needed an extension, got a shit ton of fan characters, was shilled to hell and back by plenty of YouTubers (yet ironically enough no SJWs) and is STILL failing.
This is desperation because they know there's no way they can get 250K in 5 days yet they're giving themselves MORE work by adding in a shit ton of fan characters. They want it to be funded but by adding in all these characters they're deviating from their own vision in hopes they can get a little more money from fans of these games.
I don't hate the game. I love the overall concept, think the characters are pretty awesome, love the gameplay style think the presentation, music and graphically, are top notch,and if it got funded the porn would be fantastic. But it ain't happening. Everyone knows it by now. It's just not happening.

Personally, they should of stuck to their guns and made it another game with sexy characters, instead of going with the diverse cast. They should have. I am not opposed to the game being made. I just don't trust them with that much money for a genre they don't have experience in. And it really seems like they are trying to play both sides of the fence of the SJW stuff.
If they really wanted to get this game made, instead of going for broke they should have crowd funded a proper demo to show proof of concept, their ability, and that the market exists. Then if successful they should be able to find a publisher to put up the money for the actual game.
Instead they did this. Appealed to emotion with the whole "We'll go under if this doesn't succeed" when that is no one's fault but their own. Haven't managed their product perception by clearing the air about the SJW leaning cast and theme if that wasn't their intention. And only have promises of future content in the lackluster prototype, of which no amount of arguing semantics with potential customers will change it being perceived as an actual demo and not a tech/graphics prototype.

See having one indie character like Shovel Knight is easy to gloss over, it's just a simple cameo and can be a well hidden character. But at this point it's getting excessive and it'll just be distracting to have that many outside characters.

Because my expectations coming in were a lot higher. I liked skullgirls, I liked Ahad's designs. When I saw the initial incarnations, I was considering the project as a whole, and all we knew were things that for the most part, I enjoyed. I really liked the monster designs.
When each incarnation came out, I grew less and less enamored with the project, and a lot more disappointed. I think Naga Rider was when it killed all hope for me, since I love tokusatsu, and he was less of a homage and more of a cheap knock-off with HE LOVES JUSTICE
And since then, it has just soured me on the designs I used to like. Some of the more recent ones are okay, but not great.

The game's primary conceit is that the characters are legendary champions who come to fight with Ajna, so a bit of diversity is just part of the fun of having all the world's cultures to draw character designs from.
That said, I can totally understand people who are wary of whether certain characters might clash with the general aesthetic. I'm confident the devs will pull it all together in a nice-looking package.

I personally believe Kickstarter has damaged crowdfunding overall in terms of reputation. Now this is just an opinion. I don't think there's anything wrong with crowdfunding, just an observation of the reaction TO crowdfunding.
