TvTropes is more of the same, but critically less funny. Smeared on top it has this flimsy veneer of edutainment. Like it's teaching you about things in an encyclopedic fashion. Except the entries are just more inside joke bullshit based on casual observations of pop culture writing and cliches.
This is how a typical tvtropes article reads, everything in quotes is a link to more of the same bullshit:

You can't become a writer by reading up on TV serial cliches with funny names. You have to actually understand the underlying concepts of narrativity, tellability, newsworthiness, fictionalization, defamiliarization etc. etc. etc. etc. to be able to write properly.

TVTropes is autists' paradise. I like it. I sometimes drop by to read what details they dug up about some game or film I liked. They tend to be very thorough about every little thing. I used to binge read their wiki, but thankfully I've learned to control myself a little better since then.
I heard their forum is awful. Good thing I don't go there.
Troperspeak is annoying. I don't like all those unclear names they give to repeated cliches they've spotted. "Dropped a Bridget on him" is one such example. I get the reference to Guilty Gear in the name, but come on.
By the time they started to add fanfiction categories you could tell something was wrong.
