The game is so fucking imbalanced right now its disgusting. We've literally gone from weak/strong heroes of the patch to just flat-out viable/unviable heroes, every patch has become so shallow that every meta can be figured out in 2 weeks tops. Even with the creep gold nerf people are still pulling out record-breaking GPM/XPM because of the insane power creep. I thought Frankfurt would reveal some interesting strats but its still the same flash farming mid hero and WW/Dazzle/ES/Tusk nonsense. Next patch better be nothing but nerfs to everyone.

4.7k here. It gets much better, once you get near the 5k point. There's no russians, no ragequits and no memestrats that your team won't be competent enough to deal with. Supports actually know how to deward and carries know to buy dust and carry tp's. People use ingame voip and call missing lanes.
It actually starts feeling like a competetive game.

Sort of... I mean you do see some variety but the clearly broken shit does still see pretty consistant play. Like prenerf DOOM and faceless void. Once you break around 4.2k you do see people picking heroes you don't typically see because they will fit in with the other picks made so far. Of course people start to play their roles properly as well so non meme heroes become viable, team game and all.

I lost 8 of my mmr calculation matches and was put in 4.6 mmr, which feels pretty accurate. A friend of mine picked his favorite pubstomper and won 9 of his calc matches and got 3.2, so the calculation matches don't actually do anything.

Just start ranked when you feel comfortable. I've been playing for about 800 hours and I only ever play mmr games when I feel really comfortable with the game. On the other hand, it obviously feels way more rewarding and intense when you played ranked. Watching streams helps to gain some knowledge about the game as well, if that's your thing.

I was laning against Shadow Shaman and Sven, kept getting locked down because they kited me until I was out of my rage.
Everyone else was fucking about and not bothering to do anything, especially Terrorblade and Sniper, getting killed too easily and even dying to towers. Eventually they pushed our middle lane, took our mid tower and barracks then took top.
I was farming like crazy to get items because otherwise, I felt like a wet sock in fights, and once I got my shit, we started rolling on them and killing them as they poured out of their base repeatedly.
