Every time you try to download a pack, it adds a 6GB download that might be the game itself

If you don't take basic missions, you might not get to up your division points, which gives you items and tickets.
If you don't talk to NPCs, you might not get to access normal missions which are better versions of basic missions and flesh the world out more. That includes meeting new races and getting the alien arms manufacturers.
If you don't regularly cycle party members, you'll miss out on affinity missions which give characterization to the people you're running around with.
If you don't take care of your probe placement and type, you're not going to maximize its potential. You're not going to up your BLADE level, and you're not going to get new gear just by spamming A since you locked yourself out.
There's a lot of missable things in this game.
