I built a PC for CS:GO, Dota, Total War, and Civilization.
I bought a Xbox One for Halo, Gears of War, Sunset Overdrive, and Forza titles.
I'll end up buying a PS4 eventually. Mainly due to Bloodborne, Driveclub, Godzilla (I don't care that it isn't a great game, it has novelty value), Guilty Gear, and Nier Automata.
I play multiplats on PC, mainly, unless the PC port is horrible or it's console only, then I'll chose based on the platform's controller. Sticking to one platform is legitimately retarded. It shows blind fanboy consumer loyalty. It's sad. The only reason to stick to one platform is due to a lack of funds, which is understandable in many situations. But if you have enough money to fully enjoy your hobby, you're going to play on any system that has games that interest you.

I enjoyed the first two Infamous titles, but seriously no one gave a shit about Second Son. When it came out, or now. It was basically a tech demo. The same with Killzone, everyone played it because there was nothing else to play on the system and it looked nice.
No one outside of dedicated enthusiasts even knows what Tearaway, WiLD, 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim, NIOH, Toukiden 2, The Tomorrow Children, Danganronpa, Steins;Gate 0, or Star Ocean is. Most of those people who do know what they are, they are niche-focused Japanophiles, or weebs as you might call them.
Resogun is a tiny downloadable title that no one cares about. LBP is a game that is pretty much universally "meh"ed, and some of those others haven't even made a blip on my radar, and I do almost nothing but read gaming websites and 4chan all day.

Yeah, Star Ocean is a small franchise compared to other JRPGs, and JRPGs really aren't huge outside of anime clubs, Japanese-influenced websites, or well, that's it. They aren't as big as other genres, which means a smaller series in that genre is going to be quite small when it comes to recognition.

I only got one now because it's cheap and there's a bunch of shit coming out next year that I want to get. I'm giving the Uncharted collection a shot, since it game with my PS4, but it's nothing really special so far.
Maybe there's some stuff I could import that's already outlike Puyo Puyo Tetris.
I thought 7th gen was the worst ever, but at least it had something different, and the jump in graphic quality was evident.
This gen is just using the exact same formula for all games as the gen before, and graphics haven't got any better, we barely get more resolution but nothing you can't put on a PS360 without taking out some effects, with a few exceptions like The Witcher 3 or Fallout 4.
This gen really is crap and I hope it doesn't lasts that long.

Yeah that's one of the reasons I switched over, in fact I should've mentioned it in the post. The vita influenced this decision hugely too and allowed me to appreciate what a different side of gaming and what going on in the opposite side of the 3DS fence.
I think I kinda grew out of kiddy shit and western games, most of them anyway at exactly the same time, then consoles just had everything I wanted.

Here's the thing. The 3ds is the only nintendo console I've owned since the n64 and I didn't play zelda back then when I was a child and had the n64. I always hear a lot of buzz with them so I picked up that 2d one that runs at 60 fps whose name I forgot and played it. I seriously cannot understand the appeal because there is ZERO challenge and every puzzle was mindnumbingly obvious so I dropped it. I tried ocarina of time and I could understand why it must have been such a hit at the time it came out, I really did, but since I don't have nostalgia for it it also didn't feel very good. Entertaining but only to an extent. Mario 3D Land was obnoxious. Half the game is a fucking tutorial until you unlock the later half and even then it's not very challenging, everything is very dumbed down and simplified. Yoshi I don't give a crap about those games. Moster Hunter has the absolute WORST controls I've ever seen in my entire life and I don't know how can people stomach it. So... yeah. Needless to say, I found myself playing DS games 90% of the time I used the thing because those were better, starting with the glorious Strange Journey and Devil Survivor.

And even though every game benefits from high FPS, it's only a requirement for very few genres or if you're playing with a mouse+kb due to camera pans. I tried uncharted 3 on the ps3 and I found it hysterically bad. I played for hours on end for a reason I didn't even know why anymore past a certain point and it was the most no-fun-allowed experience I've had gaming-wise. Is uncharted a good game? Gameplay looks fun as fuck and that's really the only game that stood out for me on PS4. Also what are some other games I should get in to on PS4?
