When every run of an instance would net you 4 new friends.
When you'd just hang around the inn with your buddies talking about life, raids gone bad, pvp gone good.
When you'd go off on your epic mount and watch as all the lowbies stare in awe at your high tier gear.
When you'd sit in the shadows in enemy lands waiting for scrubs to ambush
Now it's just login, grind, logout. Nobody says anything, you rarely even get matched with people on your server, if you ever run off to look at shit it's completely alone and takes no time at all because epic flying mounts breeze across the land and every patch and expansion just added uglier and uglier content.
It's a shame how they could turn such a comfy game into such a mess of shit.

Shit, I'll always remember the time a buddy and myself were in a douchebag PvP, decided to pair up, travel to Undercity and see how much ruckus we could make before getting assraped.
We ended up killing npc quest givers, elite guards and everything else we could find for 40 fucking minutes before we got bored and left.
The best part of that endeavor was while traveling there, we did 1 battleground. After arriving back we found the saddest fucking paladin in the history of WoW.
There he was, in ass fucking end of Horde territory, doing one of the most pathetic excuses of a quest that game has ever seen, that requires you to fling fucking pumpkins at npcs while having your PvP active...and we spawned right in front of him and instantly killed him.

I liked it. I never really played the campaigns, mostly I just fucked around in the skrimish mode, building towns and bastions.

The best memory I'll ever have from RuneScape was going into that dungeon under Varrock, meeting some other noob in there, and having to share our resources to survive as we ventured deeper in. He had some wood on him, and I had tinderbox and some raw meat, so we started a fire, I cooked up some food, and we had a good time. No game has, and probably won't ever, come close to replicating this feeling.
I grabbed this on sale because it looked comfy as fuck. But it's complex as hell.
After a few hours I am sure it will be comfy.

It aged quite a bit but I still like it.
You know how some games focus on massive scale, building cities or even a megalopolis, while some are smaller, more compact - you don't build blocks/areas of things you build a single building. This game somehow managed to get the best of both worlds. It was both intimate and grand and I fucking loved that.
Another thing that I enjoyed, is the presence of a campaign. A win condition. Wonderful monuments that took a shitload of time and manpower. Something that gives purpose, shape to your city.
That I what I found lacking in Banished. All it needed was a bit of text to add flavor. Some backstory and purpose to your game, that will motivate you to keep playing and unlocking more and more aspects of the game as you progress. Its not a big request but it adds a LOT to the game.
Sadly sandbox games dont have that...

Sound design sucks ass in ETS2. Rain sounds really flat and you can barely hear it while using interior camera. Shadow Magic is probably the closest AoW series has gotten to a remake of Master of Magic. Shadow Magic is great in itself but personally I still prefer AoW 1. The original is just so aesthetically pleasing and the mechanics are pretty fluid. Incredibly enjoyable game and I'd suggest playing both 1 and SM.

One of the most comfy moments I had was in SupCom. Turtling on a gigantic map with enemy AI on all sides. I perfected a base layout that incorporated honeycomb shielding.
